  • This was just... I can't believe people are giving this a good rating.

I think you're getting too much credit, honestly. This map was a frustrating crawl with friends who are skilled players. This map is not designed for Left 4 Dead 2 mechanics, thin hallways and corridors with no escape even though there are spitters in the game that will literally corner you, leaving you no choice but to fry and restart. Frustrating smoker points where his tongue goes through objects and we can't shoot him until the player is killed. Terrible direction, bots getting confused on simple paths where we just had to hope they'd teleport to us, like on that final ladder down to the tunnels before the finale - Which they didn't.

And an awful, cliche, subtle-as-a-punch-to-the-face ending that doesn't let you know where supplies are. On our first run, we were so used to the proper and subtle mapping conventions of Left 4 Dead that keep you from making stupid mistakes, that we assumed the wall that led to the supplies was just an invisible wall for zombie spawning, and the stupid, hilariously awful filter made it impossible to see the doorway to that room where the medkits are, so we missed them. When you see those black netted fences with dead bodies hanging over and some crates, you assume that there's nothing for you beyond them - It's just a spawn closet for Infected to come from, not important supplies for a finale, especially when the entire part of that map looks like the same 4 bland walls.

When your map's asinine design choices, like blinding, unnecessary filters makes them miss CORE GAMEPLAY ELEMENTS LIKE THE SUPPLIES ON A FINALE, you have failed at making a proper campaign.

Over all, this map is atrocious. I am going to do everything I can to forget about how people are giving this unnecessary, unearned praise and hope the horrible PTSD this map gave me will get under control. This map is terrible, and the only thing that separates it from the other garbage on this site is this strange facade that this has some kind of production value.

And I know I'm going to get the "You do better then" argument, but you don't have to be a 5 Star chef to know when food tastes bad, and I've seen A LOT of Left 4 Dead custom campaigns, and this is among the worst of them. You went style over substance and missed out on what would've made this fun; Competent map design. You should never get frustrated walking around and checking rooms in a game about GATHERING SUPPLIES TO KILL ZOMBIES.
    • I'd also just like to point out that, this map is over 5 years old man. Give him a break. And considering a lot of custom campaigns are made by teams. For the most part one 4 nine and the bloody moors was made by 1 guy. Kev is a legend with the long term l4d fans. And 'narrow corridors'? Yeah? So every single campaign should be carbon copies of each other like most of them are? There was nothing wrong with trying something new. In fact when I am looking for a challenge I often stick this map on simply because of the narrowness. As it is quite unique to this map. Another good campaign that is very narrow is titanic campaign. Just because they are full of narrow corridors doesn't make them bad. Just makes them different to every single other level out there.
And honestly? Playing through tonnes of the best maps all gets samey for most of them as when you are actually in them, it's hard to tell some of them apart. Nothing wrong with being original.
    • I wouldn't tell you to "do better", but I will just provide my opposing opinion. My friend and I have completed dozens of custom campaigns on expert, and this one wasn't too hard for us. We've done it multiple times actually. We saw the supplies on the finale immediately, not sure how you missed them. We immediately saw the outline of the healthkits across the way when you climb over that one way wall. The filters are annoying, yes, but there's plenty of time to check things out before starting the finale and getting the filters.

If you want to see a garbage map, try "Run for the Hills". That is absolutely the worst map I've ever played on this game. No sense of progression, every map is bland and boring, no music, the finale is unnecessarily hard. None of that applies to this campaign, imo. This one gets an average rating from my friend and I.
