A high quality 3rd party tournament-style map for Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars(tm)
Just a bit more than 24 hours after CnC3 Worldbuilder's announcement, the first 3rd party high-quality tourney map sees the light of the day - and judging by the official tourney maps arguably the first hq tourney map period :) And what better map to re-incarnate for CnC3 than the most played ever tourney map for the CnC franchise, Tournament Desert. This is not just a simple remake though, here are some highlights of its design and making process:
- Uses the same heightmap of the original C&C Generals TD design, scaled up to suit CnC3's larger units and structures
- Thorough cloning of every structure and gameplay feature that made this map be regarded as one of the best RTS multiplayer maps in history
- Deep playtesting of the map in skirmish and multiplayer
- Tiberium fields and refineries layout designed to provide a similar 'economy feel' to the original map, proportionally to the CnC3 gameplay and economy flow. Starting fields are smaller but regrow faster, expansion fields starts larger and regrow slightly slower, middle fields are the smallest and regrow the slowest - but give you double the cash during the same harvesting time, for being blue. Spikes are in the flanks and come in pairs, giving a great start and sustained economy boost.
