Feedback about preview screenshots

  • When browsing the beta GameMap.com with lower resolution (Yeah, my old laptop...(1366x768)), the overlaps of preview screenshots cannot display whole screenshots.

Although full screen mode in browser can show them totally, it's still inconvenient for user to change just for watching screenshots. At least offering a suitable overlap for 1280x720 resolution. (The lowest 16:9 resolution.)

Another suggestion is that the publisher's comments should be highlighted. You may put different color in their names or comments so users can easily find the answers of publisher and distinguish publisher from most of users. This is similar to Steam workshop, where it appends a yellow "[author]" behind the comment of publisher.

    Hello Bazrael,
Thanks for reporting this issue. The viewing screen shots display should be resolved now. We will also make sure that the publishers name is highlighted and/or noted in the comments and reviews. If you continue to have any issues with screen shots let us know.

    Thanks again!

  • There's a mod called "Enhanced Zoey" Hot & Sweaty that is clearly a nude mod and therefore it should be in Mature section, but it is not. It is, not surprisingly, the most popular mod on the website right now and it has been since its release. But the author should be forced to move it to the Mature section because that's what it is for!

At least one other user of gamemaps has contact this person but nothing has changed. In fact, what did change was the author added screenshots that are far MORE revealing!

Of course, maybe you don't intend for there to be a Mature section in the new version of the website in which case I guess it doesn't matter. But I would think that was NOT your plan.

Look here's the deal: this mod has screenshots that make it obvious it is a nude mod and therefore it should be in the Mature section, but it isn't and that is giving this author a VERY unfair advantage over other modders. As long as this mod is not in the Mature section it is likely to remain the #1 mod on the website for the rest of the year, now matter what people upload!

As a recently unretired modder, this makes me the opposite of happy as if I release something (and I intend to release several mods before the end of the year), it will not be as popular during those critical few days it shows up on the "front page" of the website. If a mod doesn't get off to a good start it is never popular usually, even in the long run. This is especially true of script mods as they are generally never as popular in the first place!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to the release of the new website!

    Hello AlfredENeuman,
Thanks for taking the time to report this situation. I have gone ahead and properly marked the content as 'Mature'.

  • That is great, but here's the issue and I should have mentioned this before: this mod appears in the Mature section BUT ALSO APPEARS IN THE REGULAR MODS SECTION TOO! There it has a slightly different name: Enhanced Zoey - Risque Edition, and that is the mod that should be deleted. By all means leave the same mod alone in the Mature section but it should not be in the section with regular mods. This author is pretty clever in that screenshots appear in the Mature section and they show her sans clothing, but the same mod in the regular section shows just one screenshot.

    I'm sorry I wasn't clear before.

    Hello AlfredENeuman,
The only mod I could find for this name was under L4D1, which I have also properly tagged as mature content.
If you have a specific mod it is helpful to provide the ID# or url so we can quickly access the correct listing.

But I have gone ahead and updated the following mods to mature.

  • It is called "Enhanced Zoey" - Risque Edition and it is on gamemaps.com in the mods section for Left 4 Dead 2.

I guess I can find out the URL and give that to you too.

  • Allright, here's the URL: gamemaps.com/details/23682

Well, here's why I was confused- two mods were uploaded by momodo303 of two mods authored by Cuba.

They are EXTREMELY similar in name and have VERY similar looking thumbnails, which is why I got the two confused.

One of the mods, which is in the Mature section, is called "Enhanced Zoey" - Hot And Sweaty Edition.

Another mod, which is in the regular mods section is called "Enhanced Zoey" - Risque Edition and this is the one I thought was the Mature mod put in BOTH places. So, I thought that it was not just in the Mature section but also in the regular mods section, which would of course be against the rules. The thumbnail for BOTH mods was very similar and in fact there are no screenshots for the Risque Edition, though there are some for the Hot And Sweaty Edition (which is the nude mod.)

I downloaded the "Enhanced Zoey" - Risque Edition mod to see if it was the same as the other mod, which I've tried out before. BUT TO MY SURPRISE they are not the same. The Risque Edition features a topless Zoey, though she has a jacket and whether or not it qualifies as Mature is a matter of opinion. She does have underwear unlike the other version.

I think if there had been screenshots with the mod "Enhanced Zoey" - Risque Edition there would have been no confusion whatsoever. I also think the uploader (not necessarily the author) doesn't have screenshots in hopes of people thinking it is the nude mod so that it gets more views and a more downloads. This is deceptive to say the least, though I would not know if it against your website's rules.

I am sorry this has turned into a fiasco but understand that for years I have witnessed authors on both gamemaps.com and Steam, using dirty tricks (like extra tagging) to make their mods more popular. Meanwhile, some of my 41 mods were flops on Steam and sometimes gamemaps.com too because I actually followed the rules. It was, and still is very frustrating for me as I just released a mod last month after a 1 year and 9 month retirement, and it has done alright on gamemaps but has been a flop on Steam thus far. I am planning on releasing more mods this month, but can't guarantee it as I'm having problems with Steam at the moment.

I think you people should ask the uploader to provide some screenshots of the Risque Edition, because I guarantee you the reason this mod is so popular is because people download it because they think it is a nude mod. But that is your call.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your time and quick responses.

    Hello AlfredENeuman,
We appreciate your feedback and concerns and we will do our best to ensure everyone has a fair and enjoyable atmosphere. We do have plans to help increase the exposure of mods that may have gone 'unnoticed' when we are working on the browse enhancements. In addition to other plans up our sleeves to further help content get discovered. It's not so much a fiasco as we look forward to your thoughts, opinions and feedback.
