Bugs

  • I wish I didn't have to complain about anything but I've found a pretty serious bug that needs to be fixed right away. Today I uploaded a mod that was redone due to The Last Stand Update. Now keep in mind that I was recently told I could have as many as 20 screenshots. Well, how about 8 instead?

I had 10 new screenshots I was going to add and started deleting the old ones (except for 2.) This would have added up to 12 screenshots in total. However, I now have actually fewer screenshots than before! I had 10 originally, but now have just 8 because the system kept trying to get me to upload the exact same file again and again (it was screenshot number 8.)

Anyway, if this is happening when one tries to update screenshots for an existing mod it might also happen when uploading screenshots for a new mod, and that is an even bigger problem. Furthermore, if I'm supposed to be able to have as many as 20 screenshots for new mods shouldn't I also be able to have that many for already uploaded mods?

In the recent past I've been able to update screenshots (you may recall I updated several mods on Thanksgiving) and there was no trouble then, but there is now. I'm using the Brave browser if that is helpful. Perhaps, if you have become more strict regarding cookies that might be an issue as I don't bother changing my settings because up until now I haven't had trouble here or anywhere else on the Internet. If you have changed things regarding cookies VERY RECENTLY, let me know and I'll try uploading some screenshots again with different settings to see if that makes a difference.

Please look into this right away, as this bug is going to affect every modder not just script modders like me. And I intend to upload some new mods on Christmas Day and that's pretty soon.

I think we all need to be on the lookout for bugs as the new website is going to be better of course, but only if it works correctly!

Thanks in advance for dealing with this issue.

    Hello,
After looking into this we noticed we forgot to deploy the update that allowed you to upload 20 images. But since we're on the topic of screenshots we figured we would fix a few more reported bugs while we are at it. (see below)

    - You can now upload up to 20 images.
    - The add image button now displays the current/max count supported.
    - Images that have long filenames will no longer return an error.
    - UHD images larger than 5000px will no longer display an error.
    - When deleting an image and uploading a new image the correct thumbnail will appear.

With these bugs fixed it should resolve your issues.
Let us know if you continue to have any problems.

    Regards

When I Click Download It Pops Up Code Not Found, What Is This Unreleased Mod?!

I guess you people should look into this! If this person is having trouble getting it to download then perhaps others are too.

Let me know if I need to re-upload the mod and I'll do it immediately.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello,
There was an issue syncing the file across download servers.
This issue has been fixed and your download should be working now.

  • To the staff:

I found a bug on the original gamemaps.com website (I've started logging into both again every day because people keep sending me notifications and that's the only way I can can respond to them.)

Anyway, I don't even know if you want to know about this because it involves reviews and I don't know if the new website will have them. However, if the original website is going to be archived then it should be accurately archived so I'm going to point out the problem anyway.

The number of reviews I've done is FAR MORE than 300. Yet when I did another review just today it went from 300 to 301. Well, it is swell that it counted the last one I did but I should have, if memory servers me right, over 330 BEFORE doing the one last night and the one this morning! That's a pretty big discrepancy.

I have no idea why the number of reviews would drop but I think it sucks to say the least, as I probably have done more of them than most as I've been a member since 2015 and very few users do reviews. In fact I was making plenty of comments and doing plenty of reviews well before I started modding as well, as that didn't happen until 2017.

Happy Holidays and have a great day.

    Hello,
This is likely because during the monetization process 8,680 Comments and 3,153 Reviews were removed. These were removed from an automated process that ran an algorithm to detect profanity. This has also likely affected a handful of innocent content as the accuracy rate is not 100%.

The beta does not have reviews anymore, the beta community also showed dis-appreciation and requested to have the reviews system removed. Instead, reviews have been replaced with a thumbs up/down rating system. Your reviews will still be retained in the form of comments on the beta.

    Happy Holidays!

  • It seems when I did my very minor updates to my 43 mods (and I marked them as minor updates) the system did something it should not have: It treated them like 43 new mods!!!

Now, I know I've been complaining about the fact my last 3 mods were flops and about the mod spamming of l4dkk BUT now this situation makes me look like a hypocrite and a re-uploader, spammer, or whatever negative adjective you may think of!

Could you please fix it ASAP so that these mods don't show up on page one as if they are new? I've already had a Guest call me out on this and they are right! And they won't in all likelihood believe my explanation that it was the beta platform that apparently made a mistake and not me. I said I'd contact the website owner immediately and I don't want to be turned into a liar.

Also, I would like to point out that this probably would not have happened were it not for the bug I told you about in a private message regarding version numbers. The fact that I was often forced to change the version numbers if probably why this happened.

    Sincerely,

  • Lately I've been ignored but what I'm about to say had better not be: there appears to be a serious problem with your upload system!

I've had complaints regarding two of my mods that they don't work and I downloaded one of them myself and the file was supposed to be 17K but in fact was 3K (and it doesn't work.) The other strange thing is that it was downloaded as a VPK instead of a ZIP file that would be extracted to the addons folder and then the VPK file would show up there.

I could be wrong but it seems the system is trying to compress the VPK but it doesn't turn it into a ZIP file. My worry, and it should worry all of you A LOT is that if my mods aren't working it is very possible NOBODY'S MODS ARE WORKING THAT HAVE BEEN UPLOADED LATELY!!!

It is hard to imagine a more serious bug than this so, with all due respect even though you are all busy, this should be looked into TODAY!

I will certainly re-upload the mods, but this time I'm going to use the old system not the beta (sorry, but I have no reason to believe this bug has been fixed yet, so what can I do?)

The two mods are Ludicrous Capacity Buckshot Shotguns and Fallen Survivors In Every Campaign by the way.

    Cordially,

    Hello AlfredENeuman,
Do you have some URLs or file ID's of the downloads with issues that can be evaluated.

Edit: Ah i see the two mentioned on the homepage. We will check this out promptly!

Upon further investigation two problems have been confirmed/discovered.

     - Our 'global mirror' is not getting a copy of the file and results in a 404 not found.
     - Uploading a file from the beta will cause the archived file to download with the wrong extension (.zip) and is instead using the parent filename (.vpk). In addition a readme is not being bundled in the archive.

    Actions
    - We have currently disabled the global mirror to prevent users from running into a 404 error.
    - We are debugging and working to resolve the problematic files that remain with the wrong filename. We should be able to correct all these files without further inconveniencing publishers. At this time we are still debugging and then executing the solution.

I will update this topic as more information comes in and/or when the problem is resolved.

    We apologize for any inconvenience.
    Regards

The global mirror was down for an extended period of time for maintenance and is now back online and operational. Any downloads that resulted in a 404 should now be fixed without any further action from the publisher. This resolves any issue that may potentially occur from the live platform.

The beta platform is still in maintenance and we are working to resolve the second issue. This should be resolved by days end.

    Regards!
