About modding maps, npcs...

  • Hey there i saw that @ChallengerBit made a custom map from Half-Life to import into The Long Drive.

I've been trying to explore how to create a custom map and also new npcs to The Long Drive.

In detail, what i want to do is using real 3D mapping, convert it to lower poly meshes, keep the textures, and create basic static maps, but also from time to time create interiors of some buildings and some interactive objects (like the original game, not more: lights, fluids, car things, etc).

To do that what i've been trying is using RenderDoc to scan Google Earth 3D view to get an rdc file that i open in Blender using MapsModelImporter.

This is just insane bc i have plenty of problems with exporting the textures as i have too may faces and UV's, you can see my detailed post here:

The point is that i saw that The Long Drive allows importing bsp and wad files as your custom map, and ChallengerBit i guess used Hammer to create a basic map from Half-Life data files.

I decided that the very basic thing is asking the people that are modding TLD directly.

    How should i proceed?
