    Advertisements
In order for us to provide the best ongoing experience GameMaps must contain some advertisements. We do our best to ensure these ads are not disrupting your browsing experience. At the same time, we also need ad placements that are attractive to our advertisers. This will result in higher quality gaming ads that can better fit our user demographic. Rest assured our #1 focus is you, our core GameMaps users.

     - Ads are now displayed after the 10th result when browsing.
     - Vignette ads (full page ads) have been disabled to improve your experience.

    GameMaps Publisher Ads
In the near future you will be able to spend credits to run your own ads on GameMaps. In addition you will be able to promote your maps and mods with a click of a button! Once we have decided the appropriate promotional locations, the ability to promote your content will be available. Our goal is to give you the best results for the lowest amount of credits possible. Stay tuned for more details.

There's a lot going on at GameMaps; we have a large amount of updates that are continuously releasing on the daily, so enjoy the ride!

  • Btw will there be any future plans about feature to tag/ mention a user on a comment on a mod/ discussion section? For example, like this:

The example above was taken from the "Add Credit" feature when editing mod description. That feature of tagging a user is already available on "Add Credit", so probably implementing it on comments & replies would probably be a good idea too. & when a user is tagged/ mentioned on a comment/ reply, a notification will show up on profile page or "Activity" so that way the user mentioned by someone could know who & where he/ she was mentioned & could directly go to the mod page/ discussion topic he/ she was mentioned. It would be even better if the "Reply" button on comment section on a mod also automatically works like tag/ mention, as that way, the person replying to a comment won't have to type the name of the user he/ she wants to mention on the reply.

Well, I think that's all I have in mind for now. I hope that this suggestion could help the site improvements in the future.

  • Oh & also one more. This is related to tag on campaigns.

On the current gamemaps site, it only shows "3 Maps", while on the old gamemaps site, this tag would show "1/3 Maps" instead of just "3 Maps", & that could give useful info to visitors/ members that the campaign was still WIP/ unfinished. It would be helpful to visitors/ members if this setting of map tag could be brought back again.

  • Appreciate the feedback and we will take these into consideration. We do have plans for a member directory where you can find your friends and favorite developers. In addition we will add privacy options so you can remove yourself from the member directory. Along the way, we can look into @mentions as we agree this would be a useful feature.

Ah yes, the map counts... The publishing areas on GameMaps will be getting upgraded soon and along the way we will look into the map count options.

    Appreciate the feedback!

  • Btw, I think I found a problem when I tried to add more details on item description. Where can I see the limit of characters on item description? Recently I tried to add some details on item description, but it showed errors like this:

In gamemaps' old version, the limit of characters is visible so I could see how long I could write on item description. But the current gamemaps doesn't show the limit of characters.

I hope that the limit of characters can be made visible again, to make it easier to estimate how long members can write item description on their mods.

  • I think there should be some rules to prevent new members to spam discussion section. As we have seen, there were some new members spamming random words/ characters as replies in discussion section, & some of them making topics unrelated to contents or even topic about advertisements. I think "Unlock Discussion" feature might need to be added. Just like how new member can only send a message in a month after making an account, the discussion section can also use similar methods, or even stricter methods. For example, feature of replying on a topic will be unlocked after a member posted certain number of comments on some mods/ maps. That way, new members have no choice but to post some comments first, & if they spam comments with random words, staff can easily check simply by looking at the data on recently posted comments & can warn or even ban then if they repeat the spam. Or at least make it so that new members need to complete certain steps first in order to be able to reply or post something in discussion section.

I think that's all I have in mind about the suggestion for discussion section. I hope that this could help give some ideas for site improvements.

  • I'm glad you brought this up and agree something needs to be done. Sure, I report people right away when I see something like an ad for call girls. But that doesn't prevent the "new member" from creating the topic in the first place!

  • @AlfredENeuman:
Yeah, it's kind of annoying to see such spams like spammed replies with random words/ characters & also the topics about weird advertisements unrelated to any contents of this site. Fortunately staff still regularly checked discussion section & removed them. If some new rules are added, probably the rules would help staff secure the discussion section so they can focus more on something else including the updates of this site.
