Скидывай скины в папку Addons 

I don't know if it will work or not, but try to rename the ".dx90.vtx" files to ".vtx". L4D1 usually only uses ".vtx" files, so ".dx90.vtx" will be unreadable. The survivor models might also affect, so, try to pick skin mods that use L4D1 survivors as the models.

If those methods above still don't work, you can try to ask some members who are specialized in porting skin mods. I'm not familiar with porting skin mods, so I only know those 2 things I mentioned above.
