Recent Updates (Discussions, Tags, Favorites, Gallery)

  • GameMaps (System)
We wanted to update the community with some recent changes over the past couple weeks. If you encounter any bugs or problems please report these issues at the discussions area. We've highlighted some of the more notable updates below.

    Discussions
Over the past couple weeks the discussions area has went through many improvements and changes. (see below)

    - Discussions now have a read/unread indicator to help you keep track of new activity.
    - Added the ability to 'Mark all topics as read' when browsing discussion categories.
    - New sections 'My Topics', 'My Replies', ' Watched Topics', and 'Subscribed Users' added.
    - Private Messages have now been integrated into the discussions area.
    - You can easily access new announcements (news) from the discussions menu.

    Favorite Games
The ability to quickly access your favorite games is now available in the header platform bar. Simply hover over the 'star' icon and you will see your favorite games. You can also add/remove games from favorites by clicking the star icon.

    Manage Tags (Publishers)
Tags play a very important role in promoting your content and allows visitors to easily find/access your content. We encourage all publishers to accurately tag their content to improve your results and the overall user experience.

For example, users looking for "Matrix" content will end up at the "Matrix" tags page. This area shows ALL the 'Matrix' tagged content. If your content is not tagged, it will not appear in these results and therefore potentially reducing your exposure dramatically.

You can now update your tags directly from your details page!
Simply scroll down to your tags and press the + button to start adding tags. (see below)

    But wait! That's not all...

Properly tagging your content will get your content promoted alongside other similar items. This feature is new and allows users to discover your content while browsing similarly tagged items.

    Extended Gallery
The community gallery at the details page has been upgraded and is now called the 'Extended Gallery'. Our goal is to make the extended gallery an easy and convenient way for ANY member to upload additional media such as screenshots and videos for the item.

Some items (particularly older content) has low quality images from years ago. Feel free to take new screenshots and upload them to the extended gallery! This can help other players get a better preview before downloading. The community appreciates it!

Over the next week one of our main focuses is on improving Guides. The guides section will be revamped making it easier to discover, read, write, and publish guides. Of course in addition to additional updates, bug fixes and new features.

    Thanks for supporting GameMaps!

  • Btw, since when has the comment box in mod section got an animated effect? I usually commented via old site so I didn't notice it. Recently when I tried to check via beta site to edit my comment a little, the box got the animated effect. Somehow that animated effect gave lag issue on my phone when trying to edit my comment. I wonder if it's possible to optimize the animated effect so that the lag is reduced. The effect makes the comment box look cooler, & it would be better if there's less lag during commenting/ editing a comment in a mod.

  • @kurochama
Thanks for the feedback. The animation effect in the comments was added yesterday to highlight the publishers comments. We will update this feature to be less cpu intensive and we should expect better results within a couple hours.

  • Thanks for the fast responses & fixes. I checked just now & the lag during editing a comment was gone. Btw it looks like there's something like a new footnote added recently in comment section, like "This comment was posted before the latest release". I think this note is kind of helpful to see if a comment was posted before the latest release or on the latest release, so people can see if the comments about bug reports are outdated or based on the latest release.
