the author says he made it from scratch by referencing the l4d version, which kind of doesn't make sense to me. I assume it's because you don't want to decompile something, but really whats the difference when it is basically exactly the same in the end?

* so many rough, straight angles. nothing dynamic about the architecture. in other words, it is super blocky
* serious lack of detail

Classic yes, but it just looks so bad. I wish a lot more detail and time went into this.

Pros:

* massive diversity in elevation. You climb 2 floors high in the castle/church
* a map where smoke nades actually are useful as terrorists. for example toss a few near site B when you move in to plant so snipers don't get you
* looks different than most maps
* good size

Cons:

* the terrorist path to site A can get a bit cramped

Conclusion:

Another great one we used to play, and I look forward to seeing it converted for cs:go since I don't play source anymore. Curious to see if any of it is changed.

Cons:

* if the terrorists rest too long at the start of the round they will find themselves stuck in a cluster/choke point not far outside of spawn (near the market). But this is not really a con, more of an issue with how people play.

I will say I think this one is more successful as a DE map, unless you have a good CT team on the hostage version.
