New Gamemaps design feedback

  • while we're on that subject, just take a quick look over the mess that happened on the "Kink" item for Left 4 Dead 2.
probably have plenty of time since Rayman hasn't followed up with my contact about it yet.
i'll let the arguing and drama speak for itself.
Jason, if that even is your name ("iLL"), moderation needs to greatly improve.
you could star by adding back feature that were removed, like just normal reporting for example.
also where is Rayman and why haven't we seen him participating here yet?

  • iLL, I'm just wondering and I would imagine others are as well, if you anticipate the new version of the website being finished this year. If not, so be it, as it is important to get it right but I'm sure I'm not the only one that wouldn't mind an E.T.A. if possible.

  • if there is no disciplinary action or moderation or cleanup on Kink i think i will look into contacting the host.
i may even pursue some kind of legal action.
i am tired of again being some kind of victim of harassment here from other users.
i am also annoyed at the lack of moderation here.
it needs to be addressed in this new "design".

    Hello Trunten,
I am not sure what the problem is with the Kink map that was uploaded? It's a bit confusing ... In either case, we will make the terms of use more clear and add publisher guidelines. Although there is animosity between two users, there is nothing that I see that breaks the terms of use.

Like I said, I don't know what the complaint is about... But I will go over the general publishing concept. Please keep in mind that GameMaps encourages publishing all content as long as proper credit is given to the original developers. In the event of a dispute, the original owner must contact GameMaps to claim ownership of the item. We can not take action based on complaints from other players who are trying to speak on behalf of the original developers.

We will update and improve our terms of us this week to provide a clearer understanding of the enforced policies.

    ---

We still have a handful of tasks and features to implement that will help reduce tensions, and provide a better experience. Please be patient as we are continuously working to improve the core platform and the surrounding environment. Although you can point out problems and ways the platform is not perfect, it is certainly making good strides in the right direction. We are doing our best to work and resolved various tasks as efficiently and quickly as possible. I can only ask that you remain patient as we continue to make progress.

    Regards,
    iLL

    Hello AlfredENeuman,
Our goal is to have the site launched by New Years or in January if the additional time is needed. However we are getting much closer to being able to launch the public beta! This would mean that all the members will have easy access to the new Beta while the old version is still optional. A public beta is planned to launch in about one or two weeks as we would like to start getting the transition phase started. Our goal isn't to finish the new GameMaps before we launch it, our goal is to release the new GameMaps and then continue to work on it after it's released. At the moment we must resolve critical bugs and ensure platform stability. This includes allowing publishers to publish content effortlessly and allowing players to discover and download content effortlessly. :)

We are actually getting pretty close to opening the beta to all the members. Right now only a very small handful of users (<10) were invited to the beta. I would say within a couple weeks, the whole world may have access to it.

    Regards,
    iLL

  • Mr. Trunten, I was very recently in contact with Rayman1103 on Steam as he gave me some help on updating some of my population mods so they work right again in the L4D 1 campaigns. Rayman is a friend of mine on Steam. Perhaps, you could successfully contact him on Steam to ask him to help with the issue you are having regarding the Kink map.

    Have a great day!

  • I don't see what was hard to notice... I thought I mentioned the comments...
the kink item had drama and fighting and harassment in the comments.
my point, or one of many, was moderation really needs to improve.
we needs ways to report not just troublesome items but also members.
I seem to remember we used to have this during the old "l4d maps" name days.

  • Alfred, with all due respect here, I've been friends with Ray long before he was on staff here or Steam.
But thanks for the idea... however, it's kind of funny, because he seems to always be busy with something.
His replies are always delayed with me, and he's almost always appearing offline.
Then of course whenever I do see him I'll see him playing some random game.
With all due respect I sometimes feel priorities are not in order here.

  • also, that's why i brought him up recently... questioning why he's not chiming in with us in these discussions.
would be nice to be sharing feedback and criticism with everyone, not just "iLL".

  • considering the small amount of staff, or lack there of lately, i have a suggestion.
it should be easy enough to implement into action on the current site.
since you so kindly reminded us about how it's supposed to work regarding uploads and crediting and whatnot...
how about if someone comes to you, or Rayman, about similarly related problems... and clearly shows you the arguing in comments...
in addition to simply cleaning up the comments, you make an official reminder statement about the terms of use, guidelines, rules...
the moderation and more stricter enforcement needs to improve before and all new design happens.
with al due respect, it's disappointing you don't see anything that breaks the rules.
almost as if the staff themselves need their own reminders... but at least Rayman gets it and will take action eventually.

Hello Trunten, please be patient as we have a lot of work in regards to community engagement and management. There is a wide array of tasks that are being setup that allow a more efficient solution. It's not being ignored, it just requires a little more patience as we are working towards much better tools and solutions.

  • thanks for at least trying to understand we as the users.
i've never been trying to tell you or Rayman how to do your jobs.
but as a long standing member (including since the old "l4d maps" days) it's just annoying.
sitting here feeling like all we're doing is watching the current site just rot away due to lack of moderation.
for some of us, it just feels like the priorities are focused too much on the new site and just neglecting the old one.
hope you understand what i'm trying to say, especially since it feels like Rayman only acts when he's alerted to something.
sorry if my complaints come off disrespectful... just try to think how it all still looks on the side of the end user.

  • I agree with Mr. Trunten 1,000%.

  • Thank you, Alfred.
As I previously said... being a long standing member...
I do see a lot of potential for this community... or at least this site.
But at the same time, I feel the priorities are out of order.
Moderation and perhaps even administration still needs improvement.
With all due respect of course... never trying to tell the staff how to do their jobs.
However, as Coach from left 4 Dead 2 says, "Ain't no shame in getting some help".
