Pros:
-scariest campaign I've played -captures the feel of Silent Hill -familiar locations -custom sounds/models are great (witch ;_; ) -SH soundtrack
Cons:
-some confusion in 2nd map about where to go/what to do (see below) -too dark in places -levels a little long and disjointed
Conclusion:
I'm really glad to see that you've picked this campaign back up. I really enjoyed the first Silent Hill campaign, long as it was, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the final three maps turn out for this campaign. Overall, I really like the direction this campaign is heading. It is probably the scariest campaign I've played (and I've played a lot), so congrats on that. I like all of the custom sounds (i.e. the new witch) as well as the new textures on the specials. I think they really heighten the fear when you're walking down a dark corridor and they just pop out of nowhere. Just that initial shock of "what the ^&$* is that?!?" I've got some things I noticed on my playthrough listed out map by map below. Keep up the great work. (possible spoilers below) Map 1: -Bots do not follow you during the intro if you take the dead end path. This resulted in me trapped in the safe room, tank pounding on the door, and two bots standing around off in the distance. -There are still some run animation issues in the intro (i.e. bots sliding along in default pose instead of running) Map 2: -I love the dark in this level. Really creeps me out. That said, in the outdoor sections, navigation is difficult. Sticking to the wall helped for the first part, but the second part (where you have to cross the road and climb the hill) was very unintuitive. I was following the streetlights on the road... Perhaps add a small light or arrow on the path you're supposed to follow so that it is a bit easier to find. -In general, it might be a bit *too* dark. Like I said, the darkness creeps me out, but staring at an entire screen full of black for minutes on end eventually goes from creepy to frustrating. -This map feels a bit too long, especially given all the potential drops to your death in the dark. Might be remedied by slightly improved visibility. Map 3: -Nice ambience in the town. I enjoyed exploring and seeing all the signs and stores. Path at the very end was surreal. -I found a breakable door on one of the buildings toward the end of the level that led out of the map. -Health packs. Health packs everywhere. I found at least 20 health packs on my way through town. You could cut the number of health packs in half and it would still be too many IMO. Map 4: -Breakable door in the first open apartment (upstairs to the left) that lets you see outside the map. -The animation on the bit with Zoey is a little funky. Funnier than it was scary. -Couldn't complete this one... There is a part toward the beginning where you drop through a hole in the floor. There are three red-outlined doors down below (one is marked high voltage). I can only open one of the doors. The bots clip through the doorway and then wait, but I cannot get through (i.e. invisible wall). I tried both in single player and local hosted campaign mode. Not sure what to do here. I hope this helps. I appreciate your hard work on this campaign. Really seems to be paying off. Thanks a bunch.
