      What

I don't really understand why this is getting so many wonderful reviews.

Nothing about the additions to the original blood harvest make sense. I'd love to play a modified version of any of the original maps, but at least make them realistic. Why were there random concrete pools of water? Subway cars on a train track above ground in a rural area? Why was there a giant underground and above ground bunker next to a normal farmhouse? Surely the military didn't have months to build a fortress once the apocalypse started. The concrete greenhouse at the farm?? The giant sewage tunnels that took us away from the train tracks? Leave that to Death Toll.

The lighting needs a new paragraph all on its own. Blue lights, orange lights, yellow lights, sometimes seeming to come from nowhere. On the second map, just after leaving the safe house, one room is blue and another is orange and you can literally see the line where the colors change from one room to another.

I'm sorry, but it looks like a little kid just threw random things together on a map. This was the first Apocalypse campaign I've played from you, and now I'm worried about the others as well.

      Pros:

-- Actually not any harder than the original campaign. The two spots that I had the most trouble with-- the alarm door on map 2 and the train on map 3 -- are either replaced or placed in wider areas that turn down their difficulty. This more than makes up for some of the weirder spots.

-- Longer maps are a good thing in my opinion.

-- Tons of detail compared to the rather spartan original campaign. Some really gorgeous scenery (for L4D) in spots.

      -- Effing 50 Cal ported from L4D2.

      -- Map 1 isn't a joke anymore.

-- I never encountered the dreaded crate-mazes, and there are some pretty awesome branching paths in areas.

-- If you like to scavenge, you'll find plenty of supplies.

-- Bot nav is generally fine and dandy.

-- Level geometry is generally greatly improved, with far fewer lumpy tunnels and hills.

-- One of the few custom campaigns I've played that seems to have the exact same horde spawn rate as the defaults.

      Cons:

-- Doesn't really feel like Blood Harvest or even anything rural. . .everything is a military-industrical-complex bunker of some type.

-- Tons of aboveground subways and other things that just don't make sense.

      -- Blue lighting everywhere.

-- BH's most distinct event is replaced with a more passe "hit the button and hold out" feature. (The train on map 3, that is.)

      Conclusion:

I was really surprised by how solid this was. It doesn't really feel like Blood Harvest anymore, but I'm OK with that. Takes what I'd consider the most disappointing stock campaign by far and adds a lot of entertainment value.

      Pros:

Not as dark as the other Apocalypse

      Cons:

Endless crate mazes. No one would stack crates and racks like that before the apocalypse, and what idiot would make line of sight so hard with such mazes AFTER the apocalypse?

      Conclusion:

Yeah, after the zombie apocalypse, the survivors spent all of their time designing wacky mazes out of crates and storage racks so that you could not see zombies until you turned the endless maze corners. Not! Ridiculous level design, better designed for mice looking for cheese. Didn't feel like running through this obvious maze for the rest of the levels, keep it.

End of results.
