Dat Finale

Has a unique look to it and some neat ideas, like the death traps and fence-breaking gauntlet, but that finale was ridiculous. The director spawned so many common it slowed my server (usually around 50 ping) down to a crawl (over 200). Oh, and bots love to suicide at the finale too.

Pros:

What can one say about Pajama's mods except that they're really really good and stuff?

- Makes it even easier to differentiate between the two ammo upgrades

Conclusion:

Pros:

- Long campaign that takes you across many unique locations.
- Epic scripted events.
- Each environment is very different from the last, feels fully realized, shows attention to detail and hidden goods are scattered throughout.
- Getting lost in map 1 is easy, as it would be in the streets of Tokyo.
- Map 5 is pure eyecandy. The entire several-story ruined building is accessible, there are extra gascans and you can choose to gather them up before starting the finale. It's fun to hold out there like a fort.

Cons:

- Wireframe texture near the beginning of map 2, on the side of a house.
- Missing envmap or normal map for the stoves, I think. I can see a light purple reflection on them.
- Missing model in the mining areas. We're pretty sure it's a pickaxe or shovel.
- Major FPS drop in map 5 on the rooftop. It seems to happen whenever fire is present, but other times for no discernible reason.

Conclusion:

I wish I could show exactly where the missing content is, but no URLs here. Still, no major bugs. ...Well, the FPS drop in map 5 is a problem, but it doesn't last forever. Yama was one of my favorite campaigns back when it was just 3 maps, and now it's so much better. This is one that I will keep coming back to for a long time.

Pros:

- Cool setting and atmosphere, especially on map 1. Very dark and ominous.
- Scary scripted events in map 2.
- There's aren't really any major issues in map 1.

Cons:

- Infinitely spawning massive hordes. It's tolerable in map 1, but from that point on it's completely ridiculous and rage inducing.
- Lack of direction. You have to figure out what to do and where to go by yourself, and that takes quite a while considering there are no arrows or other obvious signs to lead you in one direction. This makes the finale event extremely frustrating and confusing. In fact, we ended up at the opposite end of the map from where we needed to be in the finale. That shouldn't even be possible.
- The "ladders" were easily missed by everyone with which I've played this map. There either needs to be a traditional ladder there or arrows pointing to it, something.
- Scripted events (at least some of them) only effect the first player entering the area.
- Map 3 is little more than a day version of the previous map, which feels lazy, especially considering practically all of map 2 can still be accessed at that point.

Conclusion:

Really, if it wasn't for the endlessly spawning hordes and lack of instructions, this wouldn't be so bad. Those things alone drag this campaign way, way down.

Pros:

- I can tell a lot of time and effort was put into this.
- Arrows to help guide players. Definitely needed.
- Some of the locations, like Stonehenge and the forest river, look very nice.
- Having HDR for the desert sun is good.
- It's nice to start the campaign during daytime, and have the environment slowly turn to night over the course of it.

Cons:

- Like the other reviews are saying: Most of the levels feel like just going from one saferoom to the next with huge, open, empty areas in between. I understand these are based on settings from the book, they just lack detail. It reminds me of pasting one tiling grass texture across a huge map in Age of Empires 2. I feel that it could benefit from smooth hills and valleys, cliff faces, dropoffs into deadly caves, but most of all, patches where the texture differs  slightly like a real landscape, or the occasional stray desert plant.
- Huge, jagged hills (with some of the them you can't tell where it's safe to slide down) and lots of major texture stretching on the land.
- Some of the structures (like porches and train tracks) seem shoddily put together and their parts don't always connect.
- Skybox doesn't really match the nighttime settings. When all around you the land is dark, but the sky is still blindingly bright, that just isn't right.
- Finale was very confusing. We ended up traveling to two very long dead ends of a cliff, then noclipping to the bottom of the beach before the finale "vehicle" activated. And I know we were in the exact same area as the book before. We had no idea to wait there, defniitely could use some instruction.

Conclusion:

There aren't many other campaigns like this, I can say that much. The only thing it really needs to improve is attention to detail. It has huge environments, but the whole campaign seems lacking in the little details.

Pros:

 - High res, great detail all over.You must have found some pretty detailed reference images.
 - Adds a touch or realism and goes great with some of pistol mods, namely the Silverballer and Nightstalkers.

Cons:

None.

Conclusion:

This is an awesome skin that I'll be using for a long time. LaserMax sights are not just cool, but very convenient for pistol mods. :P

Pros:

 - You did... everything in this release.
 - Everything looks and feels great.
 - Holy crap, animated sling.
  -The sight options are nice and the flashlight actually looks like a seamless part of the gun, which is a first.

Cons:

 - Uh... nothing comes to mind.

Conclusion:

El fantastico, senor sandwich! Muy chalupa es rodeo vaya con dios.

Pros:

One of the most awesome player models I've seen anywhere. It looks even cooler with $selfillum (glow in the dark) eyes. You might consider that for an update.

As far as I can tell, an expertly-rigged player model as well.

I will definitely be using this for a long time.

Cons:

As everyone else has said, the first-person arms don't look that great. I know they're one of the harder things to do, so it's not that big of a deal.

I don't like addons renaming the survivors, but that's a quick VPK edit.

Conclusion:

The first-person arms may not be that great, but I think the awesome player model more than makes up for that.
Wait, this is your first player model? Now I'm even more impressed.

Pros:

- I love "hangout" maps like this. I've played this one regularly since I first got it.

- You spawn in a room full of guns, there's a room with a jukebox and witch/tank buttons, a small "fort" with a moat for infected to run carelessly into and a catwalk up above. Lots of cool level design.

Cons:

- My biggest complaint is the excessive phong/reflections you get when running very high shaders. This is the only map where that happens, period. So, I assume it's not on my side.

- The radios don't always trigger, and over all there's a lack of things to do. Way too few common infected. You can go through five specials dropping through the ceiling without a single batch of them showing up.

Conclusion:

Despite its problems, I'll keep playing this one; it's great for testing out stuff.
Work out the shader issue, make things a little more lively and this would be perfect.
I'd also love to see a little more detail put into the level decorations, maybe add more areas.

Pros:

Excellent model and textures, ported over extremely well.

Fantastic job rigging and weighting. Sometimes even the most experienced of modders get weird mesh deformation, but I can find absolutely no flaws here.

The faceposing and arms are also flawless, which is mindblowing.

Cons:

None.

Conclusion:

You always release top-notch player models and this is no exception. You should definitely keep doing this.

Pros:

 - Highly detailed, aesthetically pleasing model
 - Great job with the face and eye posing

Cons:

 - The arms looks weird sometimes, but I think that's pretty much unavoidable

Conclusion:

Love this.
