Pros:
Fantastic, light hearted but spooky theme. Nice set pieces - flashing faces, ambient sound and lighting, etc. Dark - I miss the dark. Nice general flow and pace. Consistently good detail throughout.
Cons:
Invisible wall keeping a spot from being a great deathcharge location (collapsed side of the tracks). A missing texture at the fireplace. Some haunted house cliches not exploited, but I am nitpicking here.
Conclusion:
This is a really solid effort in a different direction that provides some nice diversity from the standard L4D2 campaign. The spookhouse feel is consistenly maintained with many great effects and sets. The author is incredibly creative, but not at the expense of faulty design . Despite being in beta, the general gameplay mechanics are solid and the pace is quite good. I was expecting a couple of more haunted house chiches to be exploited, like traps, more ghosts, strobe lights, etc - but instead of getting a "holy crap" moment, you get a heaping dose of "that's neat" moments. Cons are listed above. I will be sure to look for updates - so far it is looking to be a keeper. The score reflects that, while in beta, there is room for improvement. Fantastic work.
