Welcome to my 2006 Inspired No Mercy! I started work on these edits about a year ago, and they were playable, however i never released them because i felt they still needed work. Recently, I finally decided to put in that final amount of work these maps needed to really be perfect in my opinion. And here we are! I've finally been able to release it! I hope you enjoy these, and feel free to give any constructive criticism in the comments, I am certainly intent on updating this in the near future.
[IMPORTANT] Before playing, make sure to download this mod (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3112019055) using steamworkshopdownloader.io, then optionally rename the vpk and put it in your l4d1 addons folder. You can play without, however it won't look quite how it does in the screenshots, and when I eventually retexture the campaign this'll basically be a requirement.
Also the skybox is from Cry of Fear lmao, all credit goes to Team Psykskallar and Yoru who made the l4d2 mod I technically got it from
I am aware that the real 2006 No Mercy did not have rain or color correction, so allow me to explain.
While yes, No Mercy did not use color correction up until 2008 I believe, the screenshots from around that era did have color correcting done on them to make them appear more blueish, which were my main inspirations for this edit. Plus, I believe the map looks great with the color correction. As for rain, I really just wanted an excuse to use the non particle rain, and I just generally prefer the rain still being there, however I am considering the possibility of including an optional, rainless version in later releases of this mod.
Now, I understand this could be a lot better, and it's sort of low effort in its current state. I really just made this, and in the future my edits of the other three campaigns, so that people who play with beta modpacks have campaigns that actually fit said modpacks instead of having to play Fairfield for the billionth time for something that meshes well.
