A voice mod that replaces Nick's voice with Wesker's voice from Resident Evil 5 (DC Douglas). Created with certain allies in mind, as Wesker will refer to Coach as Chris, Jill as Ellis and Sheva as Rochelle. It's a little out of character since they're teamed up with Wesker (mod was mostly intended for family/friends and we love Wesker).
Replaces roughly 1100 lines - though not all of them so you may still hear Nick speak occasionally if you don't remove his sound files. It's still a bit of a WIP as I haven't done his dlc1/world/map specific lines yet, but may update with that later. Limited use of AI voices this time, but there's still a handful in there.
I'll put it on the workshop eventually...
At the end of the day, you just want to place the gambler folder into the same directory (Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\sound\player\survivor\voice) and update the sound cache (snd_updateaudiocache or snd_rebuildaudiocache in-game) for it to work properly.
This mod: (WIP - might release on WS when it's more polished)
Wesker model replaces Nick (show some love to these modders!):
Installation instructions are below.
I mean absolutely no disrespect to the original voice actors. This started out as just a goofy mod with my personal relatives, but thought I'd share in case anyone else enjoys. If I'm breaking any rules regarding usage of AI voices, I will take down my voice mods immediately.
- 1000+ Custom Voice Lines
- Use of AI and Original Voice Lines
- No need for GCFScape!
- 7 Minutes, 7 Minutes to set up this Mod Properly
The following instructions may require you to modify or replace core game files. Follow the instructions below to complete the installation process. It is recommended to backup files before editing in case the modification conflicts or fails to run properly.
- Time to complete
- 7 Minutes
- Game version modified
1) - Locate the game directory: Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\sound\player\survivor\voice
2) - Before extracting, I recommend creating a new backup folder and placing the original gambler (Nick) lines in there.
3) - After removing/backing up the original gambler folder/sound files, extract the new gambler folder (Wesker's lines) into Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\sound\player\survivor\voice
extract all the audio .wav files into a new folder named gambler within the same directory (i.e. Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\sound\player\survivor\voice\gambler).
4) - Load up Left 4 Dead 2 and type snd_updateaudiocache into console and restart the game. If that doesn't work, try snd_rebuildaudiocache (this command takes much longer) and restart the game.
If you want to disable this voice mod, you will have to remove the new gambler folder (Wesker's lines) and replace it with the original gambler folder (Nick's lines) and update/rebuild the sound cache and restart (snd_updateaudiocache or snd_rebuildaudiocache).
If you verify integrity of game files through Steam, it will retrieve the original voice files too (though it may remove other core mods). The next time you load Left 4 Dead 2 you will have to type in snd_updateaudiocache OR snd_rebuildaudiocache and restart.
Might put on the workshop. At the end of the day, you just want to place the mechanic folder into the same directory (Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\sound\player\survivor\voice) and update the sound cache (snd_updateaudiocache or snd_rebuildaudiocache) for it to work properly.
