The survivors take the road north from Liberty Mall, only to run low on supplies several days into the journey. Scavenging one more abandoned mall should be easy enough, but something deep within plans to give them more than they bargained for.
Explore the once bustling Central Square Shopping Centre, cobble a diverted path through the shadowy subway and trek through a decrepit system of underground tunnels and condemned construction sites in an attempt to get the survivors back on the road. Though beware, there's no pit stops in hell!
This was a long passion project that started back in October 2018 when I picked up modding for the first time. What first started as a small art project gradually grew to become a full-fledged custom campaign complete with seven distinct chapters, each paying tribute to the world of Silent Hill 3.
How to install: Simply download this map using the download button provided by Gamemaps and select the provider of choice, unzip the compressed file and place the campaign into your left4dead2/addons directory, double click on the campaign file to fully install and load up L4d2.
This custom campaign features single player and co-op mode, however, many mutations should work with this map perfectly.
Please remember to leave feedback on your experience with the map in the comments, any constructive critique can be used to help improve this map in later versions. As I am still very new to the tools used in the creation of this mod, there are plenty of janky moments and oddities that are indicative of the learning curve experienced from the beginning to end of this journey.
Tips when playing for the first time:
- This map is heavily inspired by Silent Hill 3 and therefore uses a similar puzzle system, albeit a simplified version, of picking up a multitude of seemingly random objects in order to progress through the level. All objects, doors and events in this custom campaign are interactive, so please remember to enable game instructor in the multiplayer options tab.
- Press E or +use on EVERYTHING that looks like an object that stands out, includes locked doors, gates, sliding doors, elevator doors, objects on a table or chair, switches, pullies and outlets. If you successfully pick up a key item, a hint will play for the player who activated it. There are certain interactions that require you to be precise, so read hints carefully and try to aim your reticle at the object you wish to interact with.
