      Heavy detail, Long, well made.

Have played 2 maps of the seven, the campaign is a nice Sunday couple hour one, i will re visit the other chapters. Some sections like when you turn the three valves to open a door to just to loop back to a point you just were at seems a little odd. a little more linear, with a couple arrows here and there, and reduce the amount (a little) of dead , blocked doors or dead ends. map runs nice with no errors.

Haven't played any Silent Hill games yet, so the special theme means no thing to me. Not bad, although the design and details are kind of rough, but I can feel that you put much effort into this.

      Amazing atmosphere

I haven't played any silent hill games yet but if it's anything like this im sure ill enjoy it. Really enjoyed playing this map with my friends and enjoyed the atmosphere of the map.
      • Thank you so much, i'm really glad that a custom map like this can be an entry point into the series for you. If you ever get the chance to play one of those games, it's a real eye-opener into horror done right and i'm sure you'll love it.

      I like it

It reminds me a lot of Silent Hill 3, the idea of a Silent Hill map in Left 4 Dead 2 is very good, keep it up, you have talent.

too much silent hill, less left 4 dead

if you are not a fan of the silent hill, this map probably bothers you, too labyrinthine, that removes the basic rule of go to point A to B, instead of walking in circles

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • Well I'm sorry to disappoint you but if you weren't a fan of the Silent Hill games, chances are you won't like this map, either. It all goes hand in hand, and if all you want to do is follow the basic level rules then I can recommend you play the original maps instead, that's what they are there for.
Next time please offer me some critique rather than complaining about the map otherwise nobody benefits from this review at all.

      Fantastic.

Absolutely one of, if not my full on favorite maps on here. Tons of custom content. While it was distinctly Silent Hill, it was laid out differently enough to feel like a proper map made for left 4 dead still. A great balance. I think my only possible criticism is that I wasn't entirely sure I was doing damage to one of the customized boss characters, but other than that, a perfect experience.

      Solid Campaign

It was nice i admit given that i enjoy playing Resident Evil and Silent Hill campaigns you did good.~
Would been even greater with ambience from the game added into it, i wonder if you can make a 2. campaign like where it ends on 1. campaign it goes on to be able to visit the remaining places to have a true escape, guess the helicopter just crashed.

      • Thank you so much, i'm truly flattered to have my map praised like this, it means a lot to me.
If I am able to add in some ambient music from SH3 I will sprinkle it wherever I can throughout the map, that was definitely one of my biggest wishes for the campaigns early on, but became tricky since I don't have access to music editing software.
I'm still considering making a follow-up campaign that completes the entirety of Silent Hill 3, it'll need some time and preparation but once i'm super happy that chapter 1 is polished and up to ideal standards I can take those lessons over into the next project.

      Review

Only giving it 4 stars because there was a bit too much of just searching around blindly to find the items you need, and it can drag on if you accidentally missed an item out of sight and have to go back and find it. Other than that it was fine, map design was good, not perfect because it's very repetitive, but good nonetheless. I id also encounter a problem on chapter 2 I believe at the part where the tank force spawns, the door that opened randomly closed. Other than that it was fine and I enjoyed myself, honestly nothing really special, unless you're a big Silent Hill fan, but yeah it works.

      • Thank you, you're definitely very fair with the criticism and I really appreciate you expressing your perspective as you approached it freshly. Regarding the door in map 2 something must have gone wrong or perhaps I have overlooked something, since only the survivors should be able to trigger it after everyone has left the tank room. I'll have a look into it since you never know what could cause these things to happen.

A true gift for all SH fan.

You can be either a Silent Hill fan or just a curious guy looking for a new kind of gameplay. This campaign is all that. Nice atmosphere, amazing level details, balanced dificult, it is a 'must play' for everyone that enjoy puzzles and gore. Every campaign has some problems, but the good points in this campaign overcome the bad ones. But im afraid that its not for everyone. So, give yourself a try. Embrace a new gameplay. I can only thanks to the creator for this amazing job. Congrats.

      • Thank you, friend. I definitely agree that the map has its problems but it was a price to pay in order to fit it into the l4d2 structure. With most of the kinks smoothed out I think its almost in a comfortable state, it would be nice to get a few extra custom assets to give it more of a Silent Hill flair, as well as some improved ambience, ill try and play around with it when I can.

A nice tribute to the series.

I've tried every Silent Hill custom map on this site.
The key items were simple to find, puzzles were pretty straight forward.
      Plenty of supplies.
No error messages & the environments reminded me of Silent Hill 3

The bots had trouble with the lifts either not entering them or getting stuck on the long ladders in the shopping centre & the 4th map.
The boss fight on the 4th map was a nightmare with bots, also that worm can push you into the walls causing you to get stuck, can you fix that so it's not as bad for single players?
The finale was pretty easy,it was short campaign but I thought it was going to end with the team fighting the god or something.

      Keep up the good work!!!

      • Relatively, the hitbox is a long set of rectangles connected together, but they are positioned on the upper portion of the body. so aiming for the head and anywhere on the main area above the ground should cause damage. the grenade launchers were put to make it easier to hit those hitboxes cause they should make contact, but its a little experimental because its quite a small room to use them in so there could be alot of friendly fire issues. The m60 heavy machine is useful for shooting whilst back-peddling, so i added those in so you can get the most out of those moments where you are in front of it, but its truly up to your tastes/ difficulty level. Since the bots dont contribute to the fight I had to add alot of pills into the area so that they wouldn't all be dead right when the doors reopen so you wouldn't end up getting mobbed before you can revive them, but even then they still manage to get themselves killed.

The boss it needs alot of tweaking, but hopefully it'll reach a point where its not too annoying to fight and operates in the way I had mostly intended, i didn't just want to throw in a generic tank fight, cause it gets pretty predictable after a while. Regarding the pushing/wall clipping issue ii've tried to increase the radius of the room so you can get pushed to the side of the worm rather than directly into a wall, seems to be more secure now, but it might be hard to tell unless I have multiple players trying to do it at once.

      • Thanks for replying. I played the maps of silent hill & the otherside of life they were good, despite being either a buggy mess or just overall tedious & difficult to clear.
About the worm,do you have you use a grenade launcher/heavy machine to damage it? or can it take damage anywhere on its body aside from the mouth when it's open? It seemed to eat ammo when i tried to kill it.
I understand it would need another 2-5 extra maps if you wanted the full experience of the game. It's good you're taking feedback from players, some modders just delete anything negative related to their maps.

      • Thank you for your review, I recently added the boss in version 1.2, its still not quite where I want it to be, the biggest issue is keeping the illusion of a worm, so sometimes the train pieces sometimes clip into eachother, also yes, ill keep working on fixing the pushing problem, its something i couldnt perfect without public feedback, so thank you for giving him a shot.

I wanted to make an entire remake of the game but that would require many more chapters, but you never know what could happen down the line.

Another Silent hill map added to my collection

played this with 3 other on exp, I agree most of the things mentioned here, i also noticed
the message when activating an item will only be visible for the player who activates it, .
atleast in my playthrough with some others.
I had fun looking for clues and scavenging,
Not sure about bot nav, I had fun playing this, maybe a little more strategic horde or special placements for more challenge but
Overall not many complaints for me, I know you are working on improvements. I give 5 stars

      • Thank you so much! I definitely think that's a generous review, but ill try to work hard to earn those stars. Yeah, i'm trying to change some hints so that the ambient hints can be seen by everyone, that was one issue I noticed so ill try to alleviate it as much as I can.
