Hola! Coloque el archivo .vpk en el directorio donde instaló su L4D2. Por ejemplo, instalé L4D2 en el directorio C:/Games/Left 4 Dead 2/. dentro de la carpeta Left 4 Dead 2 habrá otra carpeta llamada left4dead2. Al acceder a esta carpeta, encontrará otra carpeta llamada addons. Si no tiene esta carpeta, cree una nueva carpeta con este nombre. Entonces, coloca el archivo .vpk en esta carpeta y ejecuta el juego. El directorio a instalar, según el ejemplo mostrado, sería: C:/Games/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/lastfriendonearth.vpk

Hello! Some users reported flaws while choosing their characters. The flaw would be for the player to choose a specific character, but at the start of the match it is not exactly the character he chose. I noticed that this failure occurred with the invited player and not with the administrator (Lobby Leader). In a recent update, I had to use other codes to try to fix this. Perhaps, the problem was in the presence of predetermined BOT by that server, by using time, had just canceling the choice of character by invited player. I hope there are satisfactory results with this fix. However, I need feedback from users to make sure the problem is actually solved.
But if your question is whether you can choose which character you want to be your teammate, this is impossible. Only your game partner can choose. You can only choose the character in which you control it.
