when I use the give longsword it show up but invisible when I make thirdperson my game crashes

How exactly do I do this? I put the vpk file in my addons, but I don't see it unless I play the maps that this is in. I'm even using Total Melee Unlocker - Missions. But I can't spawn it or find it anywhere. Please tell me. I want to download this and the other cool custom weapons. This is my favorite.
The only way for me to spawn this is if I play the maps this in and then move to another map. And sometimes even when I play the map, I go to console to type "give longsword" but it doesn't work.

Though the weird thing is, when I healed myself or whenever I'm in thirdperson, it shows as a flail. But that's just me.

is it possible to make a similar version: using the riotshield and the nightstick, instead of shield and sword? It would fit perfectly with swat coach.
