      eh?

Why has this map only got a couple of review stars? It's a lovely map, beautifully made and fun to play. I reckon just considering the quality of the work is worth more stars than just 2 and a half.

      Detailed but linear

Some excellent work with detail and variation from map to map, but the construction and pathways are mostly linear, like Quake 3 maps: go straight, then turn 90 degrees to the left and right. Because of that, the well crafted details and lighting lose any sense like these are real places. This is easiest seen in the first map: beautiful details in a city with impossibly small streets. So it is a mixed bag for me. The pacing is good, except for the finale which had way too many tanks. This is a big fault with many maps - more is not always better. You can make things challenging without endless hordes, gauntlets that run too long or nonstop tanks. This one suffers from the latter.

Do not download this version if you're going to play this alone

Everything is perfect from 1st chapter to the 4th chapter. The details are good, the overall quality of the map is just good.
The one crucial problem, is that there's a serious bug in the finale. In the finale, you have to fill in 10 gas cans to power up something, similar to the Dead Center finale.
The problem is that the rescue arrived music start playing long before u filling in the 10 gas cans. Which means, the tanks will start spawning indefinitely, as well as hordes of zombies nonstop, it's almost impossible to finish the finale in this way.
My experience was that I got to the 6th gas cans or so, the ending sequence started. I managed to fought off 5 tanks before eventually everyone just died. It is clearly a bug as normally when tanks spawn, the zombie horde stops spawning, as do the special infected. Instead, this one it just pushes everything onto your face, special infected, tanks, hordes and hordes of zombies.

Download the original version (2.0), it doesn't have this bug in the finale, however there's some texture missing in that one.

      • This version is using a standard finale script instead of a gas can finale's, so yeah after the standard horde-Tank-horde-Tank thing you'll get Tanks+horde "rescue escape" spawns all the way to the finish just like in any other finale. You just need a good strategy for which gas cans to target in order to get things done before the infinite crap happens. It's not too hard for me, but then again I only have 7 cans to fill because I play by myself.

Drag at least one gas can with you from map 4 into map 5 and you'll save yourself quite a bit of work.

      Excellent

      - This is a campaign that has already entered the hall of fame as one of the best campaigns to play. VALVE should include it in the official game.

"You have to play a lot and several times to get out of the city without getting lost in hundreds of alleys, but the good thing about it is that you always feel like throwing it.

-The end of this version I found strange, because every tank we killed came more and more. It was hyper difficult to get to the helicopter, lucky that we had a vomit pump and the strategy was not to kill the tank, but hit it with vomit until we managed to escape.

-If possible, check the end, many tanks then get boring, even gives a lot of adrenaline, but fighting so much to die like that is not cool. If you choose to keep tanks in sequence, at least add more molotovs, vomit bomb, and heavy weapons, or reduce the tank's HP. In this way, playing as an expert will be possible.

      Congratulations and Thanks!

      Difficult but a fun campaign

It was a fun journey through an infected Japan.
Downsides were the bots had trouble navigating the map on occasion.
Errors on some parts of the maps, despite me having the missing content fix added.
The finale is pretty tricky now that you can't just collect the cans beforehand, the challenge was enjoyable even with the spawning Tanks every few minutes.

Good work, but I feel some balance is needed at the finale, maybe more health kits & also less spawning Tanks.

      Finale Challenging on Single Player

I have yet to finish the finale in single player, but I can get close (usually can get to one can of gas to go before I die). Still a fun campaign.

      • Or you just could collect all the gas cans before you start the finale and easily make it out alive.

      Holy doly

This campaign was an awesome enjoyable experience. It's full of detail, sets a great mood and atmosphere, has tons of variety, great locations, a fantastic 'curve' with sadly the finale being a bit of a shortcoming.
The mapping is impressive on all account, custom textures, models & more everywhere. This really feels like you are in that place, everything just works.
The maps are pretty long but they have a good supply of health and ammo drops so you are mostly fine.
From the blueish cityscape to the green/grey outside towns to the dusk-orange finale, this campaign really changes up.

      Overall a great experience.
