One of the best troll maps ever made

It's quite difficult for those who play this campaign for the very first time, but the difficulty actually depends on who many tricks do you know. If you can use the tricks really well, then you can even complete this campaign on Realism Expert, and that's why I love this campaign. Highly recommended for its creative ideas and incredible cutscenes.
Yeah, if you're who can't even complete an official campaign on Advanced, just avoid this, or you may fall mad.

Definitely my favourite of the 4 Glubtastic campaigns, and for one main reason: there's a new checkpoint feature. Now the campaign doesn't feel like a slog to play through as there are checkpoints spread out throughout the chapters, some have more than others, two have none I think. Starting off with chapter 1 is a pretty standard map overall, reminds me of that one Chinese map that I can't remember the name of. You're going through an aeroplane in a pretty traditional chapter. Chapter 2 is where the BS factor ramps up because the special infected limit is something ludicrous like near 20 I think, so like Glubtastic 3, my bots tended to get kicked from the server because there's too many of them. This one is not bad at all once you memorise the keycard spawns, the checkpoints help a bunch, just gotta get lucky and run as fast as possible. Chapter 3 is a parkour map, again with ladders to save your progress, not bad. Chapter 4 is the one I found the most interesting of the bunch, and pretty unique. You go around an unknown dimension saving the L4D1 survivors (They use The Passing A.I of course) and they'll show you the way to go, so you can follow them and team up at the end for an epic holdout, cool! Chapter 5's gimmick is boat driving, and there's a risk of smokers. I feel like this is a bitch on advanced or expert because of the smoker's instant reaction, but no problems on normal or easy. After the boat section you're given a quiz about the campaigns, so if you didn't play the previous ones, you're gonna do bad, but no worries because there's a checkpoint right here, which kinda makes it have no risk factor but whatever. Then a short parkour section followed by a pretty standard layout to finish. Chapter 6's gimmick is custom tanks and witches, it'll probably take you a bit but once you figure out their gimmick, this becomes a pretty standard map with a pretty cool atmosphere surprisingly. And the finale is a completely custom boss fight that's not too difficult or easy, a good balance and a lot of fun, what a great finish to a great campaign! Chapter 2 is definitely the weakest chapter of the bunch imo and sets the expectation low for the rest of the campaign, but it just gets better as it goes on. A great way to finish a questionable campaign series... but I enjoyed it, good stuff.

Satisfied because it's a troll map and a good map at the same time

Great map because if you play the Glubtastic series map by map, you can see the improvements.
      • make the map I meant server huhu if only you can edit comments or reviews
      • My only problem is the Glubtastic factory because I get kicked out for the witch model or something. Also when I play the Gamemaps version of the map it won't let me in when playing multiplayer but I can play with others if I make the map. Also about the Glub factory problem it's not just me who is experiencing the problem the other players were kicked out because of the witch model problem and I want it fixed so that we can play smoothly. Anyways great map with great cutscenes very enjoying.

      Very creative and cleverly made

Took some time but Finished on Expert with the Bots.
I haven't seen a creative campaign like this for a long time.

map 1: nothing to add, fight on a plane with crazy boomers, fun.

map 2: You will need to be Rochelle here. alot of specials to deal with, but if fast you can grab all the cards in one go. and use rochelle for the finale one
you can just die as it counts as a checkpoint. (btw the checkpoints idea are very clever and creative too.)

map 3: fun little jumping section, the real danger is when two tanks spawn.
but if you time it right you can deal with 1 tank with the other tanks rock.(or just fight with bots)
I thought it took some time but it was luckily on my first attempt.
(I already played it once with a team mate)

map 4: Fun boat section, the valve part was a bit of pain, but you can use the bots for cover.
and also stay at the back of the boat to break the tongue if lucky. sometimes it does't work.
but make sure you keep holding the wheel when you hear one, can take several attempts.
or use the melee to cut tongue, but its hard to do when your using the steering.

map 5: this took some time, because of many fast charger and instant deaths. also the end fight is no joke.
map 6: alot of custom tank/witch models, luckily they do not have many hp and can be killed.Few traps here and there.
Map 7: The big sis boss, just stay most left corner and try to avoid the rocks jumping. they instant bring you down
      on expert.

Total time it took around 7/8 hours over 2 days and died alot of times especially from fast chargers..
I uploaded a video too, its on my Yt (Left 4 Dead 2 - Glubtastic 4 EXPERT)

and also really hope for more in the future. I had a blast playing.
      Thanks

great campaign like the other 3 honestly the glubtastic saga is very good sometimes it is a headache because of how troll it is but that is the essence of this saga trolling the players is what makes it entertaining

Review from a Single Player experience

So I played this (and all the previous Glubtastic maps after seeing the trailer for this one as someone who has never heard of them before) on Single Player, simply because I was too impatient to try and gather a group of humans - I figured I'd at least try them solo even though I was sure I would run into issues with the survivor bots - they just aren't built for this kind of extremely gimmicky custom content. Sadly I frequently had to resort to godmode to make up the difference between playing with teammates who understand the chaos going on around them and AI bots that don't, but I still had an absolute blast.

To focus on Glubtastic 4 in particular though, I was impressed at how much of the custom content the bots DID interact with. They attempted to attack and avoid the custom enemies and mostly behaved themselves during the vehicle section too. The vehicle itself was a lot more temperamental than the one featured in Glubtastic 3, but was still extremely impressive in it's own right. Unfortunately the amount of Smokers during the gate-opening area are definitely too overwhelming for a lone player.

Going back to the custom enemies, at first I was beating them through a fluke, thinking they were just damage sponges. When I first realised how I was actually killing them I was really impressed by the fact that they WEREN'T just damage sponges, which is really above and beyond for custom enemies. The boss fight was a bit more typical in this sense but the animation, spectacle and sheer variety of attacks to anticipate and avoid make up the difference. While I again had to use cheats to stay alive playing solo here, I will say it's worth adding some gun spawns to the area. I went in with an m60 and a melee weapon, and naturally once the m60 had run out, I had no way to attack the boss without using cheats at that point.

Cut-scene work is really impressive, there was a lot of fantastic laughs to be had along the way and some of them were just generally cool overall. I feel like you could make a really special story-driven campaign with these talents unlike what we've ever seen if only you'd use your talents for good rather than evil, hahaha!

The checkpoint system is extremely cool and was much appreciated on Map 2, which had a lot of slow exploration at first (the switches here could be a little more obvious as to what they trigger, finding them wasn't particularly fun). The bots also have trouble navigating down to the lower depths of the room with the gnome temple, which is surprising considering you had them all platforming alongside the player in earlier campaigns. My only gripe is that Map 6 definitely needed a few more checkpoints - dying to the very fast-moving doors at the end of the conveyor belt section after the rooms of "witches" and being sent back to the start of the map was insanely demoralising and probably the only time in the entire series of Glubtastic that I lost patience and just straight-up noclipped back to where I got to rather than speedrunning because I knew what I was dealing with now etc.

The platforming section was also really fun and surprisingly non-trolly compared to the series leading up to this point.

Overall though, I really enjoyed my time playing through this series. While they just simply aren't built for single player, it was very easy to understand the potential of four human players taking on this gauntlet, and while I'm a little sad I robbed myself of the experience of playing this with friends for the first time, I'm eager to introduce some of them to it... and hang back and let them go first. The sheer technical prowess on offer here is what elevates me to give it a 5-star. It's definitely not a traditional, vanilla campaign, but I think it takes the mind of someone who wants to make something as insane as this to truly break open and push the game to its limits. It's far from perfect, but to expect a campaign this unique to be perfect is a tall order. The unique gameplay novelties that each map offers and amount of humour makes up the difference.

I definitely recommend folks play the entire series to fully appreciate the build-up and what passes for the strange narrative these campaigns entail, just be prepared to play on easy and use cheats to compensate for the AI bots' incompetence if you want to play them alone. The poor guys try but they just weren't built for stuff this bizarre.

It's a shame that (I assume) custom campaigns can't be given a seperate set of rules for offline and online play. I can definitely see how reducing this stuff too much would make the campaign far too easy when played with a full team of humans. If you ever have it in you, releasing a "single player cut" of the Glubtastic series that reduces the burden on a lone player would be amazing, but it makes sense to give priority to the online experience.

P.S. To my fellow Rochelle players... Maybe try someone else for this one.

      • Now that's a decent review in detail. It's all I've asked for and it's certainly vastly superior than a "Comment" passed off as a review.
There are a lot of Mods I could use but I prefer to never use Mods as I feel they are cheats. We've played modded servers where everyone has an M-60 with infinite ammo. What's the point and where's the challenge if you can't play a campaign straight up. Just not fun for me and my friends. Guess we're "traditionalists".

Anyway thanks for posting an actual review of the game. I appreciate you doing one! :-)

      • Uhh... the "apex" of the series then, weirdly protective swear-filter.

      • I also knew I forgot to mention something, I think "The Sis Dimension", featuring throwbacks to the earlier campaigns was my favourite part overall, especially all the hilarious setpieces in with the folks you encounter along the way (won't spoil). Really tied the whole experience together and got me excited for the ****** of the series.

      • Haha, "gnome temple"... there is no temple of gnomes to my knowledge in this campaign, I meant to type "gnome table" but I started playing this at 10:30pm and didn't finish until 2am, I'm a touch sleep-deprived.

      A classic

Glubtastic campaigns are already classics. Each campaign has its lot of reference. The author is a friend, even the brother that we never had. His work is remarkable and should be commended without moderation. Deep thanks from France

      • Each Campaign has it's lot of reference? Meaning what? Care to expound on this and explain exactly why you think it's so great? Just give folks here some factual data and not simply blow kisses and yell Bravo !!

      Glubtasting so much

"This will be the final chapter of the Glubtastic series"
I hope no and you will produce another state-of-the-art campaign. This is a pure jewel, like all the glubtastic saga.

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • I hope he sticks to is promise. How about you sit down and tell us EXACTLY in detail why you think it's "state of the art" (clearly it's not even close to being one). A classic and great Campaign would be "YAMA" or "Death Aboard 2". I could name several others but these 2 make my point.
So once again if you feel it's such a fantastic Campaign then by all means present clear fact driven evidence to back it up.

      A Masterpiece

A true masterpiece. What to say except that it is a masterpiece. An absolute genius who deserves a statue of his own.

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • True Masterpiece??? Based on what. You know darn well you never played the game or you couldn't even remotely call it a "Masterpiece". It's a masterpiece of nonsensical overblown and unplayable hot garbage !! Give folks an actually review !!!
BTW the only ones who should get a Medal of Honor are the ones who attempted to play this campaign.
So as I've consistently stated over many year here please put comments in the comment section. Reviews require substance to inform the other players.

      Troll Map

Yeah, I know. We all know these are troll maps. I'm not just discovering this. But I do like downvoting things that waste my time. It's a shame, because the Glubtastic campaigns have good level design and the author does a lot of custom animations and other custom stuff. It looks great in screenshots, but the gameplay is always utter trash. I find myself asking how someone could spend so much time creating to what amounts to troll content. It's like they're playing themselves more than the people they're trolling. The first short plane level was easy enough and I liked the surrealism, but you'll hit troll territory HARD the instant you start the second map. I was using Admin mod to bring people back as they went down and we still kept failing due to 10+ jockeys/smokers/chargers/boomers at the same time nonstop. Not fun in any way, shape, or form. I wonder what keeps this guy going despite knowing the vast majority of players aren't even going to see 90% of the content he creates. I think this will be my last Glubtastic attempt. I hate giving 1 star reviews.

      Dismal Waste of Time !!!

This is absolutely a ridiculous Campaign and a waste of download time. Even playing it on easy you barely get through map #1. On Map #2 I tried 6 times to get anywhere. You have Zero chance unless you play with Mods which I absolutely refuse to do EVER. See how long you last with 6 chargers and 8 jockeys all coming at the same time. Add in the mob of spitters and half dozen smokers and your toast. I didn't last more than 4 min at best.
I've already deleted the files with extreme prejudice. If your goal was to design a campaign that will piss off 99.9% of players then you accomplished your job. This is on a par with all those "Hee Hee" Campaigns that other idiot mapper posts.
      DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME !!!

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • Exactly. Very ****** map. Total wastage of time.

End of results.
