any idea what happened on l4dkk?

  • most of the time i come to visit on this site, are bunch of addons being uploaded every week/month, including an endless chain of requests appearing on every feedback section in each of his items he upload. ive been here since 2020. i requested some stuffs back then to him, but i stopped bcause it feels like a torture for a modder getting at least hundred requests?. his last upload was in august 5 and after that, he stopped for like 1 month.

  • I've said for years he should have his own Left 4 Dead 2 section, because the Left 4 Dead 2 section consistently has so many of his items nobody else gets attention for their mods, etc. That's why I stopped putting my new mods and mutations here years ago, and I'm not the only one by a long shot that just puts their new stuff on Steam for that reason. I have put upgraded versions of my 50 mods here over the years, but the mods and mutations from 2023 onward are not here. My last 10 new at the time mods here were flops because right after uploading them a huge number of items from l4dkk would appear each time, so my stuff didn't get noticed.

  • @AlfredENeuman , actually that's a good idea to make another section special for l4dkk, so his uploaded mods won't flood the "Latest Release" each time he uploads many mods at once. Actually there are several possible options for this, like:
    1. Limiting the number of visible mods by the same author on "Latest Release"
If an author upload more than 3 mods in less than 5-10 minutes, all uploaded mods will be packed into one image set like a folder, with a "Click to view all latest mods by AuthorName". This way, only 3 slots of "Latest Release" will be used by the same author.

    2. Giving l4dkk his own section
Just as your suggestion, this would give him his own mod section (because basically he might be one member here with the most mods uploaded). Any of his uploaded mods will go there instead of "Latest Release". Probably it could be done by marking all mods uploaded by him as exceptions just like how "Mature" content goes to "Mature" section & never shows up on "Latest Release" anymore. To give fairness for him, admin can add one more category like "Mods by l4dkk" below the "Latest Release", so anyone who wants to check his mods can go there.

  • I'm glad you agree kurochama that something needs to be done. The question is: Will something be done?

Perhaps another way of handling it would be to have a special section for mods that were recently released that were requested mods. Usually these are uploads by l4dkk of course, but a section for requested mods with a limit of no more than a couple of mods uploaded per day might make sense. That way it would prevent spamming in that section of the site as well.

A limit of a couple of releases a day in the regular Latest Releases section makes a whole lot of sense too obviously- spamming discourages people from creating mods, mutations, maps, etc. We should all obviously want plenty of new content for our beloved game Left 4 Dead 2!
