      Review

How you managed to screw up a simple port that badly, I'll never know. Since the chapters are so short, the author artificially inflates the difficulty by spamming a lot of commons on chapter 2, and having two boss specials on chapter 1, all the way to the finale (sometimes 3.) Whilst it's cool to have the saferooms at the original level transitions, the chapters are simply way too short, and it shows, as you try to make it difficult. I did like some of the forced special spawns, put a cool twist on the campaign. The finale is a mess and a joke. So for some reason, the ladder and fencing that leads down to the finale area (after the radio) is completely screwed. The fencing has no collision, the ladder can be climbed on both sides, and you can climb back up it even though visually, the ladder doesn't extend all the way down, and with some careful jumping, make it back to the saferoom if you accidentally jumped down. You can just camp up there for the entire finale and not suffer any losses, retreat to the saferoom for ammo as well. Also a hint tells you to go to the saferoom to escape appears to early, as it can happen when two tanks remain to be killed, the door will remain locked until then. Honestly severely dissapointed, would've been better to have a longer campaign, merging maps and using more HL2 maps instead of this very short >20min experience, and with an actual functioning finale.

      Easily One of my Favorites!

I would've easily given this map 5-stars but the only problems i had was the long ladder that caused bots to kill themselves, and the lack of directions, you were able to put up an alert message to remind the player to wait for the transmission to be over and use it again to start the finale but you didn't put one for the switch you had to pull and the teleporter you had to enter. i am happy about the alert of where to go during the finale opposed to some of the others not having it... But Other than that this is one of my favorite maps. The teleporting scene was also very interesting, i just wish there was maybe a little more to do with it other than walk a little and randomly teleport.

      Pros:

      Enough supplies (outside of saferooms)
      Lots of witches
      Finale is pretty good

      Cons:

When there's a long ladder down in one map, the bots like to fall to their death. I revived Francis with a defib, but instead of grabbing his gun and health, he ran to the saferoom nearby, ignoring his Tier 2 weapon and medkit. This would be tolerable, if the saferooms were stocked. He started the next level with just a pistol, and then wouldn't pick up a medkit near the teleporter.
No indication to go into teleporter, or even to flip the switch- only found it by running up to everything and hitting X.
Final door opens outward and reacts slow. Seems like a small deal until you get trapped behind it because you opened it while running, and there's a tank and horde on your ass.

      Conclusion:

It's ok. The overall blandness of the gameplay makes the cons barely worth dealing with.

      Pros:

      - Spectacular Textures
      - Supplies enough (less to expert mode)
      - Very realistic in the category "time" (day / night)

      Cons:

      - Could have more first aid kits to facilitate when played on Expert mode

      Conclusion:

Simply fantastic. A perfect replica of Half Life 2 and of course it could not have all of the Half Life, but there is nothing to change this map. I find myself playing Half Life 2 on it. That's perfect. If you think of a case update, add first aid kits or pain pills. Congratulations.

      Pros:

       - Very fun and quick map
       - Each level had a different layout
       - Maps 2-6 had a good quantity of guns / throwables / heals

      Cons:

       - Finale door should open inward
       - Map 1 was a bit lacking in supplies

      Conclusion:

       - Very fun and short campaign, finished in 58 minutes with 2 restarts.

      Pros:

      1.) Visuals are amazing.

2.) Great placement of tanks and witches.

3.) Horde spawns make up for the impatience of rushers and their complaints of shortness.

      4.) Nostalgia!

      Cons:

      1.) it's too short!1! - LOL, just kidding.

2.) Teleportation is wacky but fun stuff.

3.) Damn train kept killing my bots.

4.) Even with the texture pack downloaded, I still saw some purple textures.

      Conclusion:

I don't know why people comment on the game-play being too short. The author clearly states "Short 30 minute gameplay!" If you think something's too quickly over with, add dynamic game changes, such as modifications to specials, tank hp, common infected health or even just play it on hard eight! There ya go, now the short campaign is nice and much more lengthier.

Regardless of people's abilities to fully read something, I have to say this campaign was truly a pleasure to play. I host a modified hard eight server with highly shortened timers and constant tank spawns and every map was constantly brutal and fun! The narrowness of the hallways combined with small rooms created intense battle sessions. The hatred smokers and jockeys bring with their combined abilities made backtracking something common but the nostalgia, the scenery, and the length, with no game-play errors for myself, make this a favorite on my server.

      Pros:

      + Great Port
      + Great witch placement
+ HL2 players will be satisfied

      Cons:

      - Short
      - Poor tank placement(for the most part)

      Conclusion:

It is worth a try and I would highly recommend it to HL2 fans

      Pros:

      Actual Port of the campaign.
Most of the textures work, and so do the models.
      Has some challenge to it.

      Cons:

Some maps are really short (Like the apartments)
All of the items are rigged. Everything spawns the same with no changes.
      Item caches give too much.
Finale lacks instructions (We screwed up twice not knowing what to do.)
Not many changes in the port. Nothing new or special.
The sky keeps flickering to black (I tried mounting Hl2 again to see if it would fix, to no avail)
Lack of balancing. It's tilted too much to the survivors, they get tier two weapons at the start.
Ending continues to play game play sounds (No finale music)

      Conclusion:

Upon playing the map, it has cons everywhere that make it a grudge to even play. It needs some improvement and better map blending. At least it is playable.

      Pros:

great textures but too crowdy to really have the possibility to apreciate maps details

      Cons:

      - frustrating (too tight maps and areas for fighting huge hordes and special infected: tanks, smokers, witches, spitters, attacking sometimes all togather)
      - really really short levels
      - too much witches placed in narrow passages (and difficuty was set to normal)
      - quite impossible finale (killed about 8 tanks and an huge ammount of zombies and special infected before being killed)

      Conclusion:

the worst campaign I have ever played for the moment

      Cons:

      Too easy and short

      -Half-Life 2!

      Cons:

-The download stops at 147 MB so i can't download.

      Pros:

      - Great port of half life 2
      - Scripts are in it too
      - Ragdolls from half life 2 are in it too
      - Teleportation in map 5

      Cons:

      - Hordes appear too constantly in map 2
      - Missing textures and props
      - Is it me or did two tanks and a witch spawn at the final?

      Conclusion:

      Overall great campaign

      Pros:

      Great graphics
Makes me feel I'm actually playing HL2 again
      Great detail.
I really enjoy the towns people (?) from HL to be in it (I don't know why though)

      Cons:

The ending was confusing. Maybe I'm not smart enough but it's hard to find where 'rescue' is.
      Tight spaces in some areas.

      Conclusion:

This is a really well built map and I would recommend it my my other HL buddies. But, like I said before, the rescue is hard to find and some spots are pretty tight. But it's still a great map :)

      Pros:

Half-Life 2 design very well done
Bot actually did what they should!
Smooth game play, the maps flowed very well
I liked the amount of witches
decent enough supplies for the short maps

      Cons:

would have been nice to have a shotgun from the beginning!
Maps were good, a little shorter then i like
a couple objects had the purple and black texture
not a fan of that many tanks but they were easy to take out
took most of my time playing to find out where the rescue was!

      Conclusion:

In all it was a good map, one I'm happy to play again. Shorter then im used to but sometimes a nice short map is all you have time for! It made me feel like i was play HL2 which was cool! and the finale wasn't to hard just didn't know where to go after! Keep up the good work!

      Pros:

      * I never played HL2, its amazing to see what the maps look like, makes me want to play the original!
      _____________________________________________

      Cons:

      * This is way too short. Every map is like a minute long but with tons of witches and tank that will make you take 2 to 5 minute to get through. The file size is humongous and by reading the comments I can understand why. But as the dev you have to ask yourself is it a good idea to offer approx. 15min of gameplay?

      * Visual glitches already reported.

      * Finale is actually easy if you know where to stand. Just man the turret gun and shoot at everything.

      Conclusion:

Cool concept, but it makes no sense in its current state. This is the biggest campaign I think to download and is shorter than some single maps.

My recommendation would be : get rid of many extra textures and items from the maps and replace them with L4D default ones to lower the file size. Then, connect everything into 1 single map and open alternate navigation routes from the original, which would be cool for those who played hl2. If you do that, I think it could become one of the most interesting maps on the site.

      6.3

      Pros:

      -Half-Life (obviously)
      -Lots of nostalgia
-The blood textures were a nice touch
      -Fastest-running campaign (aka no lag)

      Cons:

      -Some missing textures
      -Lighting is sometimes wonky
-Bot nav could use some work
-Too claustrophobic for tanks and witches
      -Weapon placement was weird
      -Saferoom finale...?
      -Underwhelming levels
      -Levels are obviously too short
      -Huge file with unecessary content

      Conclusion:

It may be a Half-Life campaign, but HL2 maps weren't made for L4D2. The level design clashes with L4D2's game mechanics, thus making it less fun then it should be. The finale also confused me; I waited in the saferoom until the escape music started playing, and then the level ended. I love the concept of remaking Half-Life 2 levels into L4D2, but this campaign was executed rather poorly.

      5.5

      Pros:

-You did a good job on the maps port, everything is smooth and generally bug free.

-HL2 map selection fits well with the zombie apocalypse theme.

-Useful .50 cal. at the end, one of the few times in L4D the turret is actually well placed.

      Cons:

-Maps are ridiculously short. Without the tanks, 1 & 2 could be aced in under a minute.

-Each map has a tank, a witch and large number of special infected almost straight out of the safe room.

-Not a single gun other than the one you start with for the first 2 maps (unless I missed something hidden somewhere).

-Bots don't teleport with you on map 4. And as a tank waits on the other side, I was screwed.

-I don't remember having this issue with HL2, but certain sections have a contrast that is way to high. For example at the beginning coming out of the train, half the station, trains, characters etc are just matte black except when you flash your light on it. Looks very weird.

-No voice for the radio at the end.

-After defeating the last tank at the finale, I got the message "Rescue has arrived" but nothing materialized. Then we were teleported to a safe room with the credit music rolling it. It's missing an escape vehicle.

      Conclusion:

Interesting to play these maps in L4D 2 but it doesn't really translate well as a full fledge campaign. The whole thing could be 1 or two maps, not five.
It also lacks weapons and items.

This review was posted before the latest release.

End of results.
