      A fun map

      Good
               The nostalgia.
Plenty of supplies for weapons & kits.
                A interesting finale.

      Bad
Bots had trouble navigating the area, especially with the switches & the mounted guns, they would die instantly.
The finale was odd but challenging.

Hope you make another map based on half life/2

      Interesting reversal of Half-Life 1

While the maps aren't total remakes (as is the campaign name), the areas in them bring nostalgie at every corner turn. Can't say anything negative or positive about longevity and supplies, which only means it's done quite right. The finale, however, seemed odd - it looked like the Xen borderworld was actually a huge dump of Earth's trash, and there was nothing even remotely beautiful in there. The other version, with the portals, felt confusing in addition to all above, I also couldn't finish it for reasons I can't remember. I only didn't like the elevator sequence, it is way too out of place even for Black Mesa facility.

Xen should be fully detailed or expanded

Very good map campaign. Needless to say, its basically tracing the reverse Gordon Freeman's footstep from We've Got Hostiles chapter to Anomalous Materials in Half-Life! I like how the turrets were setup everywhere, as well as the secret vents. And the famous Resonance Cascade lab in Unforeseen Consequences is beautifully remade. Could've compete with Crowbar Collective's Black Mesa dev team!

The only slight disappointment was Xen. Firstly, all those rooms taken from Chapter 1 and Chapter 3 aren't needed. Since focus is on Xen, the journey setting should be solely on climbing or going through the floating rocks only. Another thing is all those crates and cars that floating on Xen should have be replaced with Xen rocks. Those cars and crates are ugly, and its seen more dangerous to walk through it. Finally, where is the Xen skybox? Why is the whole sky went black? Its such a waste not to add them! Other than that, I also love its finale though I don't like how multiple Tanks came out from inside the teleportation cave.

Overall, map campaign worth playing. With my modification of this map setting, I get to play as Gordon Freeman along with 7 other survivors!

GREAT, UNIQUE CAMPAIGN, HOWEVER 'XEN' FINALE IS UNCLEAR

      PROS
      - Map design
      - Long maps
      - Tanks/ witches
      - Clear layout (except finale)
      - Decent amount of supplies
      -

      CONS
      - XEN finale was a HUGE letdown. Played the whole campaign on expert, but when you signal the rock and run down. A sign pointsan explosion barrel that doesn't explode by shooting it. Instead you just have to wait and kill two tanks (like a normal finale) HOWEVER this is not communicated to the players. It seems as if you can just run down when the rock comes and shoot the barrel to progress- NOPE. And playing this on expert whilst tanks chase you and you have no idea what to do, was horrible.
      - Some of the instructor hints don't go away, they keep saying to use a PC, switches that have already been pressed keep re-highlighting.

      A Must Play

      PROS
      Very interesting map designs
      Dynamic layouts
      Nasty witch spawns

      CONS
At one point, there are multiple arrows telling you to use a PC, then nothing tells you to leave that area and keep going downstairs.
At the first 2 gates in Map 1, hitting the switches did nothing, then suddenly, I hit one and a door crushed 2 bots with no warning.

      CONCLUSION
Great campaign! You will have to deal with witches that you can't avoid, especially in earlier maps when you don't have Tier 2 weapons. The layouts are non-linear, but there are only a few places you can actually get lost. The Xen finale is weird, but not bad.

good old fashioned quality long campaign!

Not much I am willing to say about this, mainly because I'd rather people experience it for themselves.
What I'll say for now is if you've been holding out on downloading a campaign now's a good time!
This campaign takes me back to the good old days of the first Left 4 Dead when campaigns were long but also great.
You don't see a lot of that done well together any more, so don't miss out on this campaign!

Experience Black Mesa with L4D style.

      Pros:
      +Going through classic HL environment.
+Gameplay of Prince of Persia (1989)!
+Fighting at Xen and eye-catching portal.
      +Alternative endings.

      Cons:
Fourth puzzle of Prince of Persia game is way too hard for players who play this campaigns first time. They won't know the floor is collapsed and can't try again. Maybe offering some unbreakable floor so they can try again.

The ventilation system with big drawing fan needs extra supplies. Don't make players go upstairs and find nothing, wasting time.

      Broke

      - Elevator at subway terminal in second map doesn't work. Reset level multiple times.
      - Bots are essentially useless. They run off in random directions, sometimes really far away from you. They don't pick up items half the time.
      - Second to last level is ridiculous. Game lags big time whenever the screen turns grey. Still trying to figure out why the screen turns grey. Assuming it's because I'm close to the reactor. Can't make it through, even on normal, because the bots don't follow me.

Another revamped campaign that ended up being a waste of time. Seems to be par for the course lately. Bots haven't been working in any of these re-releases.

      • many servers running mods will change the settings of l4d2, might be the reason for the deranged bots.
I made sure that the two versions of my campaign use separate names for everything so there should not be
any contamination. And the ai navigation for this version was built from scratch, there isn't much more I
        can do to it.

people have mixed up the versions before, you CAN NOT run the original "pitch BLACK mesa" in "l4d 2" It will not work properly.

this version is "pitch DARK mesa" which is designed for l4d 2

If the intro camera is sideways you're running the wrong version in the wrong game.

the screen going grey is a shader effect, under video / advanced/ try setting the shader detail to low.

the witches on my install were turned green because of server installed junk, might be time for a clear out
        and verify.
