      Hard but interesting

The bell in M3 is too tough. Bots won't help you destroy it so it will take too much time, which made me restart. And the horde escaping in M5 kills bots easily even if you throw a bile jar, you have to run to the boathouse. That is really a long way. And it's the most disappointing to jump onto the trains after your hard resistance but die just because you did not squat down.
So I highly recommend that you call your friends to play with you, especially if it is your first time playing this campaign.

The best map remake I've ever played.

I played this in 2015/2016 and I NEVER forgot the experience. I have recently started playing again and came back to express my love for this map and its deliberate design to give infected players more edge in versus play, making them very dangerous instead of being merely "road bumps" for survivors to deal with. As a side effect of the redesign, co-op and singleplayer games on this map are lengthier and a lot more fun as well.

The panic events are the highlight of this map remake, especially on the Church and Boathouse Finale levels. The creative twists on them are AMAZING and the train rescue was a breath of fresh air from the usual escape methods. On top of that, this map builds on the strengths of the original designs and expands on them. The sewers were a blast to navigate through as well (watch out for the giant gaping hole...)

      Pros:
      -Creative level designs
      -Fresh twist on a classic
-Lengthier levels for more fun co-op

      Cons:
      -NOT FOR BEGINNERS
-Thin supplies and a long way to go: good chance of running out of ammo and you might have to use secondary weapons
      -Infected-sided maps (arguably a con).

      Review

Whilst I enjoyed it quite a bit I will say I think it's a little bit too hardcore? The lack of supplies throughout maps definitely can be an issue, so I'm not sure how I feel about it, it's not to the point where you're struggling for supplies, although on my server which has a few tweaks it certainly was. Also melee viewmodels are missing on this campaign, and can cause some polygon stretching. As for the map design the chapters are looong. Like really, really long. I want to say twice the size of some of the bigger L4D2 maps in general, so if you die far in, too bad you're doin' the whole chapter again buddy! Maybe more checkpoints would've been nice, it goes back to being too hardcore in my opinion. There's definitely more/forced special spawns on chapter 4, which is quite cheap, there's an admittedly funny event where 4 hunters jump from a rooftop, but again, too hardcore? Whilst I do think the redesign/alternate routes are really cool and creative, the difficulty of the map is tough to recommend to the casuals, and if you're looking for a fun game night with buddies, well if you have experience, give it a shot, otherwise avoid.

      Pros:

      -nice new areas
      -level layout is good
      -challenging especially on normal difficulty
      -great remake overall
      - A campaign that's different to the original, as a good remake and not something with only slight tweaks

      Cons:

-Ammo and health were scarce especially with only 2 medi-kits per chapter
-tier 2 weapons were mostly scarce as well, only mostly found submachine guns and pump shotguns
-Graphical glitches in map 1 with props at the beginning
-The Storm in chapter 3 is fatiguing when it goes on for too long as a user said.
-Destorying the bell and pillars takes quite a while.
-John slater keeps talking when the finale starts
-In all cases with the finale, all bots will die since they can not get on the train at the end
-the cresendo hordes with the last chapter are too long
-rescue vehicle can be confusing to first time players, the train will often kill more than save.
-considering this campaign is In beta, expert on this campaign is not an option, too difficult with too few supplies

      Conclusion:

This campaign has got a lot of potential to make up for its cons when it comes out of beta with the next update, despite that this remake of death toll I would prefer over the L4D2 port. Bots getting killed in the finale when only 1 person makes it is annoying enougn to people. This campaign is challenging, tho almost impossible to beat on expert due to the low number of supplies with the health packs scarce in saferooms as such.
      Map - 8/10
      Events - 5/10
      Exp - 7/10
      Overall - 6.5/10

      Pros:

      -excellent additional areas
-alot of new areas are completely new, not just slightly altered existing ones
      -exploration is very rewarding
      -quite challenging

      Cons:

-almost no good guns, really you only find smgs and chrome shotguns
-the church bell has FAR FAR too much health
-shooting pillars and climbing over the barbed wire roof is silly
-special infected often appear as 3/4 of the same type at the same time
-train and tunnel kill more than they save, especially when playing with bots

      Conclusion:

an excellent campaign map, with plenty of imaginative and interesting new areas. it would be my preferred remake of the original death toll campaign were it not for the lack of good guns/ammo and some flaws with crescendo events, such as taking too long to destroy something or getting incapacitated by an annoying feature.
overall i would recommend, but i think it needs a bit more work.

      Pros:

+ Fantastic new areas that breathe new life and length into the classic campaign.
+ Good consideration for both campaign and versus play.
+ New twists on the familiar areas, regarding both navigation and crescendo events.
+ Good pacing of supplies and such considering the longer map length.
      + Downright awesome finale.

      Cons:

      - Some graphical glitches on Map 1 (models randomly turn into Crash Course escape trucks).
      - Map 3's scripted heavy storm can be fatiguing due to its long length.
      - One element of the finale/escape may frustrate players who aren't paying full attention.

      Conclusion:

Overall one of the best remakes of an official campaign, and as worth playing, and as creative, as a fully original campaign. Don't underestimate this, it has a lot of changes that I don't want to spoil the surprise of. Lets you explore almost every area that was blocked off or in the distance that one might have been curious about, and tons more. While the original is more tightly designed in terms of length, those looking for a longer game will find this most satisfying, with the new elements and areas being on par with the quality and creativity of Valve's efforts.

      Pros:

      + Layout/routes
      + Throwables.

      Cons:

      - Some stupid spots
      - Rescue,

      Conclusion:

It was a boat that was on the radio and what came in the end was a train. And it just flashed by.
      Map;9.5

      Pros:

Real deviations / modification from normal death toll.
Winding, alternate routes; did require some imagination.
      Challenging.

      Cons:

Bell tower - how does one destroy the bell?
Occasionally a bit confusing, winding. Too much so.
LFD2 survivors - why? Starting poster uninteresting.
Clamtoll? Awful name. "Riverside" "Death Toll Remake" - why clamtoll?

      Conclusion:

While Death Toll is one of my favorite LFD games, I don't see how this is an improvement - mainly due to the finale of the third map at the church tower. I unloaded with the mounted machinegun till the barrel overheated at least 3 times - all to no effect. Seem silly, and frustrating.
Deviations on the third map became a bit confusing - campaign became somewhat jumbled.

      Not bad

Pretty good campaign. Fun to play if you're in the mood for a familiar map but a little more fresh.

      Pros:

      +difficult
      +extensive campaign
      +great remake
      +exciting new events
      +new areas to explore
      +interesting end
      +intros and dialogues

      Cons:

-some bots, die in the rescue
      -nothing more, I think

      Conclusion:

I think is better than the official map, has a strong difficulty, and explores new areas of the campaign. I liked very much, thanks for sharing.

      Pros:

Much longer than the regular version

Explores different ares that were unused

      makes things much less linear

      interesting ending

more events to do (like shooting the pillars

      Cons:

certain new events were hard, while others were weak, but all in all, nothing to really be harsh about

      Conclusion:

This map is soooo much better than the valve version. Theres just so much more things to do, and places to go.

      Pros:

      - Great idea in general. I love the idea of "What if..?" :)
      - Creative new ways, which employ some of the areas which can be seen but not accessed in original Death Toll
      - Challenging

      Cons:

      - L4D2 Survivors (Why?)
      - Could use Tier 2 weapons A BIT earlier in the campaign

      Conclusion:

Make more of these! Seeing such remakes of other classic campaigns would be great.
Don't listen to those moaning about lack of items: a campaign should be challenging! Though, like I said, Tier 2 weapons could be accessible a bit sooner, it's quite boring without them.

      Pros:

      +Wonderful remake
      +Creative remakes to panic events
      +Nice storm
+Not just a copy of the campaign with minor changes

      Cons:

      -somehow died on the train
      -not enough ammo
-needs more health towards the end of the fourth chapter
      -more t2 weapons
      -needs more throwables
-too many zombies when you run from the house

      Conclusion:

It is a really nice remake but when i played this with a friend we jumped on the train as soon as it appeared but we got incapped for some reason. Then we had to restart that whole chapter. Towards the end of the fourth chapter, after the panic event we all died since there weren't any healing items. More throwables and pills would be very helpful but whats missing the most is AMMO! Other than that it really was a good remake.

      4.5

      Pros:

      + Creativity!
      + More like a maze.
+ Lighting adds suspense, but... (see Cons)
+ Rescue area has been revamped, but at a cost...

      Cons:

      - Too dark.
      - Lack of ammo.
      - Lack of throwables.
      - Lack of health packs, pills, adrenaline shots.
      - Lack of tier 2 weapons.
      - Lack of directions (i.e. arrows, signs.)
      - John Slater and the Church Guy keep talking after you summon the rescue, and destroy the bell.
      - You need to destroy the bell, it's difficult.
      - Bots can't move in the running water in the sewers.
      - Too much time underground.
      - Too many ways to die when there are too few health packs and means of staying alive.
      - Only two health packs in many saferooms, there always needs to be four.
      - Kept the dock, but made a new rescue vehicle?
      - Train idea, didn't like it, but that's my opinion. No points taken off final score.
      - Just too many others to name since this is a beta.

      Conclusion:

It's a good start, looking forward to updates, hopefully the author will take our reviews to their heart and try to fix them.

      7.5

      Pros:

      - Classic campaign with some nice changes

      Cons:

      - Some twists are really confusing: 3rd map is very dark, rainy and so on
      - Almost NONE health packs: I've got B/W screen in the middle of 4th map
      - Crescendo event in the 4th map: didn't make it (everyone was BW at this moment due to lack of medkits)
      - Lack of weapons: LACK. OF. WEAPONS.

      Conclusion:

Well, it's a Death Toll with lots of twists and changes. It is now twice as long and as a result it can become quite boring. And a year after its last update, you are most likely not going to fix anything.

      Pros:

      - nice graphic
      - good long Area's
      - very very good remake from Death Toll
      - good ammo positions
      - great Events
      - nice weather effects, with them, the campaign give other play feeling

      Cons:

      - none

      Conclusion:

Awesome! I played the first version in L4D1, i thougt, hmm, maybe the same version, only with some cool fixes. But it looks now so nice, very great playable!! The Events are changed and the Final! I was so suprised, that a train come.
What i like was the action with the church. Yeah, shoot with the machine gun the bell done!! haha

Played this game with 3 guys in realism mode, 3 hours need, but over 4200 zombies splatted :)

      9.4

      Pros:

      - Awesome way of taking arguably the best campaign from Left 4 Dead (love the small town setting) and adding all new twists and turns.
      - The hard rain effect in map 3? EPIC. More custom campaigns outta use this, its an effective gameplay mechanic when used correctly.
      - DARK. This shit is dark, feels like the BETA L4D screens look like.

      Cons:

      - Level 4 would've been EPIC with the rain, perhaps even better than Level 3 was.
      - The shortcut, after being broken, should be ale to be used AFTER you die as well. I was playing single player and chose not to finish the campaign after dying twice.
      - No zombies at the start of Level 4? One of my favorite parts of the L4D games was this section of Death Toll. Just sniping away at all the zombies, every shot a head shot, or even using the assault rifle to hit a bunch of long-distance head shots.
      - You called this campaign Clam Toll when you SHOULD have called this bad Larry...

      "FOR WHOM THE CLAM TOLLS"

      Conclusion:

One of my favorite custom campaigns. A bit tiresome on single player, but well worth it. Great atmosphere, very cleverly designed, and makes you feel nostalgic for the days of the 2-level No Mercy demo and FIRST getting Left 4 Dead and playing through the levels for the first time.

Solid work. Valve should consider hiring you to remake all of their L4D campaigns for Left 4 Dead 2

      Pros:

An excellent remake of Death toll, certainly better than the original
      Very long
Puzzles causing you to think and plan ahead of your journey
Finding weapons felt like a reward for navigating through tricky terrain
      Lighting is good
Love the lightning effects when outside, added to the fear factor
      Very creative
Final is different, yet still excellent.

      Cons:

Supplies felt to scarce on most maps
It felt annoying to die next to the safe room after traveling for 20 minutes through a map.
Lighting felt slightly unrealistic on map 3, to much blue
Some puzzles were a bit to difficult to solve
Not a big variety of weapons

      Conclusion:

Excellent to play, but not a campaign id return to immediately, its just to difficult at times and there is little to reward you for passing a great challenge, on the other hand, it is still visually great and an impressive remake of death toll.

End of results.
