Description

A voice mod that replaces Rochelle's voice lines with Jill Valentine's voice from Resident Evil 5 (Patricia Ja Lee). Created with certain allies in mind, as Jill will refer to Coach as Barry, Nick as Wesker and Ellis as Chris.

This mod was created in combination with my friend Unknown's voice mod from the workshop. Replaces all 2,554 voice lines, though DLC lines are muted (may update in the future). I recommend backing up both original producer folders from the left4dead2 and left4dead2_dlc1 directories. 

Place both the left4dead2 and left4dead2_dlc folders into the same directory (Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead) and update the sound cache (snd_updateaudiocache or snd_rebuildaudiocache in-game) for the best sound quality.

!! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU BACKUP THE ORIGINAL FILES !!

The workshop version does not require the sound cache to be updated or any tampering with local files. So if you prefer that, I recommend you subscribe to the workshop version instead.

Modification Instructions

The following instructions may require you to modify or replace core game files. Follow the instructions below to complete the installation process. It is recommended to backup files before editing in case the modification conflicts or fails to run properly.

Time to complete: 5 Minutes
Game version modified: Yes - backups recommended

1) - Locate the core game directory: Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2

2) - Before extracting, I recommend creating backup folders to both producer folders from both directories. (You can  even simply rename the original producer folders, i.e. producer-vanilla and producer-dlc1).

3) - After removing/backing up the original producer folders/sound files, extract both the left4dead2 and left4dead2_dlc1 folders into Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2.


4) - Recommended:  Load up Left 4 Dead 2 and type snd_updateaudiocache into console and restart the game. If that doesn't work, try snd_rebuildaudiocache (this command takes much longer) and restart the game.

If you want to disable this voice mod, you will have to remove the new producer folders (Jill's lines) and replace it with the original producer folders (Rochelle's lines) and update the sound cache again (snd_updateaudiocache or snd_rebuildaudiocache). 

OR

If you verify integrity of game files through Steam, it will retrieve the original voice files too (though it may remove other  mods). The next time you load Left 4 Dead 2 you will have to type in snd_updateaudiocache OR snd_rebuildaudiocache and restart.

This mod is also on the workshop without the need to tamper with any core files.
