A good challenging campaign with hellish environments

Well, I think I've changed my mind. I'll leave a review & later update it when the 6th map is released. This campaign takes place in hellish environments, just like the prequels. However, some custom skins are added on this campaign. The common infected zombies are mostly skeletons now, & there are custom tank skin & tank theme. Certain areas have custom background music like tribal drum instrumental music. Two things that make this campaign scarier than the other 2 prequels are the tank's challenges & boss fights. I'll explain that later.
      .
In overview, this campaign has good bot navigation. The directions & highlights on switches & corpses are clear. However, the first two maps are low on good guns, as only Tier 1 weapons (smgs, pump shotgun etc) are available. If lucky, there's a Tier 2 weapon on map 2 (a bot usually picks that first. Bots sure are cheating...). Other supplies are scattered all over the maps.
      .
Map 1 is short but survivors will face a special tank challenge in the beginning of map in the watery area. The spawned tank is a "nerfed" tank with much lower health, so, if all survivors focus the shots on the tank, he will die quickly. If players play this map for the first time, they might be confused for awhile about the route, as when they leave the watery area, there's only a barren land with few trees ahead with no hint about how to proceed. Players need to take a "leap of faith", to jump down to the lower ground. Though it looks high enough, survivors can still jump down without taking damage.
      .
Map 2 is about exploring tunnels to find a way out to the plains with few trees & red rivers. There's a scripted tank spawn around the plains. The scripted tank has lower health than usual, so it's still beatable when shooting & running around the plains.
      .
Map 3 takes place in a building. The objectives are to look for switches to open the locked doors. There's a special alarm panic event near the end of the map. Somehow the alarm can't be turned off, so the zombies keep coming while survivors are trying to open the rolling door leading to the elevator. Tank comes one by one on certain interval after the horde, so survivors need to enter the elevator as soon as possible.
      .
Map 4 is also about tunnel exploration while looking for switches. There's a holdout event during waiting for the underworld boat. There are some good spots to defend during this event. It's recommended to juggle the weapons & grenades somewhere else, because the default supply spot is too open. Tank also comes on certain interval after horde. However, that boat event is not the end. There's a pitch-black area waiting ahead, where only flames show the way. Never walk recklessly, because the ravines are invisible due to the pitch-black effect. There's a scripted tank pursuit event here. The tank has lower health, but he'll keep spawning on certain interval after the previous tank is dead.
      .
Map 5 has a tank's challenge in the beginning of map after getting out of the boat into the cave. I forget how many tanks coming one to another after the previous tank is dead, but they are more than 5 in total as the last turns will have like 2 tanks spawned instead, before the rolling door is unlocked. Tank's health is lower than usual, so with right strategies, player can beat them one by one. After all doors are unlocked, there's a holdout event during waiting for the elevator near the end of the map. Somehow, bots will be bugged like wanting to go to the saferoom (elevator) when survivors defend near the elevator, so it's better to take other spots if playing with bots.
      .
Then, the scariest one is map 6. Like before, the objectives are pressing some switches leading to the graveyards where the boss fights happen. Once the path to the 1st graveyard opens, the 1st boss fight begins after all survivors enter the graveyard. The boss is the demonic balloon that previously appeared on the prequel "Unholy Ground" (the long path alternative). It has several lightning & laser attack patterns. Try not to shoot when the balloon is close, because when it dies, it will explode & that can instantly incapacitate any survivors nearby. After this balloon is dead, 4 sentinel tanks will challenge survivors one by one. Try to look at the tank statues above the graveyard wall to figure out which tank will attack first. After killing all 4 sentinel tanks there's 2nd demonic balloon boss waiting at the next graveyard. This balloon is kind of scarier because sometimes it drops some witches. After killing this 2nd boss, the rescue music is triggered & survivors have to run to the elevator while fighting horde & special infected.
      .
Map 7 on the new update, is the new finale. It's a special holdout finale in scary environments. In a glance, this map reminds me of some scary environments in "Mortal Kombat" game. There are some good places to camp. One of them is near the chainsaw environment where there's a fence to lean on so that a charger won't charge you out of the map to death. The finale is slightly longer as when the rescue music plays, it changes into survival finale in which survivors need to defend until the cutscene shows up.
      .
In overalls, it's a challenging campaign with hellish environments & atmosphere. If you love old campaigns like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, you can trt this one too. It's playable in Singleplayer, but it's recommended to play with friends or other players, as there are some tank challenges & boss fights in which bots can't detect the custom boss (you're all alone shooting the boss during boss fight if playing with bots).

      Thank you! Finished in 3hrs & 1Min (Till Ch6) - 11 Restarts - Single Player Mode

You can check my complete walkthrough through the link below of the campaign playlist, a video for each chapter [[ Adding ch7 to the list soon]]:

      h\t\t\ps://w\w\w.youtube.c\o\m/playlist?list=PLOFtKLS6rEvmhWpfffOs1RZs3CTiFf3WV

Your campaign is the first of its type as I never encountered such a customized zombie skin in any custom map, except for Silent Hill & Home Town for special infected only.

Ch1. Was restarted only once due to the fact I didn't know where to go next and thank you for nerfing tanks as it would be an nightmare to do with bots fighting all these tanks. Survived alone as bots were behind saving each other till death.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ch2. Was done with 0 Restarts & it was longer and harder than 1st chapter, but run strategy always works while being so careful as only 1 bot was left with me when we met tank after spending like 10 minutes in the campaign. Again I was alone and dodged a death by safe room door :)
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ch3. Was restarted 6 times and was one of the hardest chapters and the constant spawning of tanks till that elevator reached. I survived an absolute attack, but due to the fact that the tank damage was nerfed, I survived. its rock and a boomer waiting inside elevator XD
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ch.4 Was the hardest and was restarted 8 times. It's considered the longest in terms of multiple panic events, including a fight of like 16 tanks inside that sacred area with the tank burning gate and a tank before it besides a long run to safe room full of traps and fighting at least 2 tanks again on the way to it.

A bug I found about the safe room area after the marathon between torches up the dark hill as I can't be safe even if I am there as long as bots are still alive and this is really annoying and made my rating go down to 4 stars. The same happened with that flying platform before the marathon between torches as all bots were down and I couldn't move that platform unless they are dead so I was fighting 2 tanks alone in a tight corner.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ch.5 Was restarted only once as the hardest part was the fight of multiple tanks in that trap, but was easier in a way.
      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ch.6 Was considered the official finale before the release of ch.7 and it was restarted only twice. A Single Player Runner will always suffer when it comes to objects, enemies or bosses to be shot in order to pass the chapter as bots won't be there to help, but they can still be used as a cover or to bring me up if I fall. so ch.6 was pretty easier than ch.7
      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ch.7, the official finale for this campaign, was restarted 9 times and it took 1hr & 18 minutes to finish it. 2 attempts were screwed because zombies stopped coming for the second wave so I had to suicide in order to restart to hopefully finish the chapter. 1 attempt was so close to rescue, but took a very bad spot to fight alone as I didn't know where to go next when it was said "Angelic deity noticed our call" and it was on the way down. I was alone with 1 bot and it died on spot and I followed. Yes, one can see you sent 2 tanks per wave, 1 nerfed tank, and 1 common tank with full HP just like any tank we find in any campaign whose difficulty is Expert.
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The overall campaign is really good and balanced when it comes to tanks damage and supplies. The tank theme and rescue theme besides the intro theme was really really lovely.

P.S: Special thanks for your comment on my video, Evil. It means a lot when the campaign creator takes a moment to leave a comment letting me know that a new chapter was added as an official finale. I am going to try the rest of your campaigns soon.

I knew that "Beyond Dead" is part 3 of a series that consists of 2 other campaigns as part 1 & part 2.

Thank you & keep it up!

      Excellent Campaign!

I'm updating a previous review from 2 years ago as the campaign was still a work in progress.
I just completed it with the Bots and had zero issues. You need to be observant and watch for
the switches that open paths. Not really hard to find nor figure out.
There is plenty of ammo (you'll need it!), throwing items, and first aid items.
I finished up only losing Ellis just before the Angel came down (very different rescue that I hadn't encountered before).

I gave it an 8 score (it was unfinished) 2 years ago but it's now a solid 10 in my book.
Usually if it states it's Beta or incomplete I only do comments or feedback.
I appreciate the amount of effort and time it takes to create a campaign of this quality.

The fellow who stated he finished the game in 20 minutes is so FULL OF IT. There is no way you could do 6 maps in 20 minutes.

      Dave (aka Chief Nukem) Henk

PS In my opinion the folks who post "reviews" just to post low ratings likely didn't either play nor complete it.
Save those reviews as comments which is where they belong.

      Review

Very generic campaign, ultimately boils down to a "find the button simulator." Fairly short one clocking in at about 20 minutes, this campaign has you finding buttons to unlock doors in a hellish environment. In regards to problems chapter 2 has real bad optimization problems, with constant high ping makes it not very enjoyable to play. The finale is basically non existent, you go into an elevator and the campaign abruptly ends. Not a great campaign but not terrible either, not much to comment on, just needs to be more fleshed out. Also the constant music loop in the finale was very annoying, could do without it.

      another worthless upload

"It contains maps 3 and 4 of a 6 map campaign" - just lol. Are we on a diet now? Chopping up campaigns to pass them off as appetizers?

And do I even need to ask if you got Evil's permission before stealing it to post here? I'd be extremely surprised if you did.

Huck 3.0 in the making. I'm sure the original is very proud of you.

      • thre's at least two, maybe three others, I'm curious if you're going to go after...
or only just continue harassing Darth and Dave.
because, you know, complaining isn't exactly going to help.
it's almost as if you're baiting them, all it will do is just fuel them to continue.

      • @crowley1661 Only you are pathetic here . ) In contrast to your moans I'm busy affair . Did you even create one map ? ) What would be at least something to say? Behind my back are 24 maps for cs ze, 3 half-life mod and cs go 12 map. Created by me personally . At the same time, I manage to work and catch criminals. What are you doing sitting here with your critic's pants on?)

      • Well, I usually avoid presumptions about thievery unless it's officially confirmed & proven. Like this campaign, when I googled, I still couldn't find it in steamcommunity. & I think if you really want to help the author to report stolen content, you shouldn't do this kind of act of humiliating someone in public, as people will more likely see that you're having personal problems with the uploader. Isn't it more effective if you invite the author himself here? Less talk, & direct confirmation from the author, & problems solved. It only takes few minutes to register here just to investigate stolen contents. That's if the content is really stolen or uploaded without permission. Again, I don't want to make any presumptions for now...

      • Darth if I even have to explain it to you, then you're far dumber than you are a good thief. And you're not the only thief I've seen. I've been part of the L4D2 community since before it was released, and I've seen a lot of them come & go.

You're not the smartest, you're just the newest in a line of stupid thieves trying to score brownie points on the internet by reposting other people's unfinished work without permission, resulting in a heap of broken, unfinished clutter of addons.

And if you took the time to ASK if people have a problem with it, you'd know that they do.

        You're pathetic.

      • @andreng well, if you started a conversation then ... I don't think you know that most players don't care at all. the main thing is to play normal maps and in half of the world there are no copyrights and piracy is allowed. Also for each country in the steam there are even different rules for players from different countries and even for steam workshop

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • you realize there's other thieves here, right... like, actual thieves... ones who don't credit at all.
seems you only want to target Huck (who left here long ago) and Darth...
as well as make a shit about Dave but I'm done arguing with you about him.
Dzhigurda is another one, but you might not be familiar with him under that name.
he's a bit of a thief more on the work shop as "popthesefools".
Dzhigurda pushes the line more with redistributing older versions of Helm's Deep pushing copyright with the soundtrack.
I suspect you let some of these other ones slip under the radar if they appear to actually be fixing something.
or if you didn't have any bad play-through experiences with them.
no, the real problem is with how the site is run, ultimately. slim to no moderation unless we users complain.
oh, right, I almost forgot you also take issue with the administration.
hmm, funny how that same administration has actually successfully taken action and gotten me results in the Steam community.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • Probably you didn't know that it's kind of one of the author's, Evil's habit to make few maps first & then add more later. If you ever played the other campaigns made by him, you'd understand.
        .
Btw why did you write a review only worth a comment here? Your review looks like as if you just judge the book by its cover, & there's no single explanation about what's in those map 3 & 4. Probably you should have posted a comment instead of a cheap review like this.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • says a nonentity that for forum at all nothing one can do?) try to create at least your own map, or can you just open your mouth?)
