      Good One.

A good playable map. No game play issues at all. what I don't like is the L4D Bots. the L4D2 Bots are fairly stupid. But the L4D Bots will go stand in spitter goo and get incapacitated. or one of them will go run and stand in fire until incapacitated.

People have their preferences and some love the L4D bots. But I think all campaigns should use L4D2 Bots. or at least have a choice between the 2.

      • i don't think bots matter when it mostly comes from the nav design, but i might be wrong.
no specific survivor (including set) has any better performance over others.

Absolutely amazing. Hoping to see Dead Air, Death Toll and Blood Harvest have a remake like this as well.

      Zero "remake" factor

I quit halfway through map 4 because I've played all this already. There's nothing remotely remade about this one. Looks exactly like vanilla No Mercy, aside from a couple minor negligible edits

      - the removed crashed car from the safehouse building in map 1
      - the replaced safehouse in map 2--->3
      - oh and now you have to jump onto the truck and a ladder to get to the warehouse instead of using the forklift....how original.

No new areas to explore, no different routes to take, nothing. It's all copy/paste with no "remake" factor to speak of. Waste of bandwidth.

      • hey buddy I think you misunderstood the purpose of this campaign's existence. you might want to look more into left 4 dead 1's beta stages

      Good remake

I found no bot navigation error till the finale. This campaign gives No Mercy a new life. The surrounding environments look better. Supplies are enough as well. Maybe I expected too much about some plot twists compared to the official map, like for example, the rescue helicopter is crushed by a tank when landing so survivors use elevator & run back to the first floor, looking for available ambulance or other rescue vehicles. Well, I think that's my suggestion for next remake campaigns. Different plots or plot twists can make the maps more challenging.
      .
Well, at least I can replace the old No Mercy with this when playing with friends. Good work on the remake :D .

It's well done, but not much has changed

This is a quality map, but since 95% of the map itself is still current stock and another 4% is based on the original delivered map, I really don't see the point. I have played both games since day 1, and while this brings back most of the original delivered map feel with enhanced lighting I think it also highlights the initial flaws TRS put into the map design. If one of the authors could please explain what they actually added (what are the "general improvements and twists") besides enhanced lighting and the changed ending saferoom on map 1, I might reconsider upping my "average" review score. Maybe I am just partial to people adding in more significant new content if re-releasing a delivered map, like Dark Carnival Remix or even Dark Parish.

Well done, but pretty much a similar experience to stock NM

If you are looking for a different experience (I guess the point of most custom maps), you won't find that much different here from the stock No Mercy: there are a couple of transitional spots between places that are different: the map 1 saferoom, the Burger Tank entrance to the gas station and absent lift event, and the smaller hospital roof are obvious differences. The lighting seems to dramatically accentuate differences between light and dark, and is a little more dynamic. There is also a subtle difference in the general look with regards to details and lighting, like this is more of a city that recently came under siege, as opposed to one that is well into the apocalypse. But aside from the pockets that are structurally different, the changes didn't affect how the campaign felt to me very much. No Mercy is great, which makes this one great as well by default. But I don't think all the changes are good. The paths and transitions from place to place in the stock map seem smoother. The stock sewers and finale on the roof is superior in my opinion. Since the point of this campaign is to restore the map to a beta stage, I can better appreciate the refinements in the stock one. If you are a big fan of old, pre-release footage, and want to experience what it might have been like to have worked as an early L4D beta tester, than this download would be a great investment in time for you. If you have not played No Mercy much, this campaign might feel fresh. If you really want to appreciate the tiny differences between pre-release L4D and stock L4D2 No Mercy, then this is great stuff. If you come here to experience something new, than this may not be your thing.

      Almost Perfect.

This was almost perfect on L4D1 and still is on L4D2. Lots of attention to detail and a great atmosphere throughout the entire campaign.

      Definitely worth a play.

Played it on solo last night and it was excellent. No navigation issues with bots and no game play issues. Only graphic glitch is in the finale. The landing pad corner has the dreaded purple squares. So I'll have to deduct .01 pts. <G> Makes it overall it's a 99.99% winner. Thanks for posting it !!

Perfect recreation of the ole Beta No Mercy. Definitely recommended, especially to beta fanatics. No problems encountered, works as expected.

      Solid campaign

I always love remix things like this and it was a great campaign. The actual map layout changes are quite minor (it is still No Mercy after all) but the visuals and atmosphere are far better than the vanilla campaign we eventually got.

Only bug I had was during the elevator event in map 4 me and the other characters 'sunk' into the ground as the elevator got near, had to noclip and teleport the bots back into the map.

      Would definitely recommend!

      Left 4 Dead 0

Original recreation, real masterpiece ladies and gentlemen. Really want to see other remakes, as well with Dead Air and Blood Harvest at first. Please, make them. But at least, we had a good original game, thanks for what You've done

      *added beta bikinis*

thanks for not giving up on this project even with my own pushing to have you do a "proper port".
for those of us who do know the history of Valve and Turtle Rock Studios I'm glad to see this and Dam It were in good hands.
