Another campaign I forgot to review

Hard but balanced, not decent in visual but in experience, using common content but being unique. Highly recommended.

      Buried Deep - Good map

Maps is good and for the life of me idk why i rated if low. i think it was because i was setting up new maps for versus and it not working on our servers.

Also if i remember it was because 5 campaigns in a row were like this and took it out on you.

I'm sorry for acting like that. As a map maker i understand and shouldn't have rated low.

So i fixed it and good job on a well done map.

and it should be rated on that alone.

Well done and i apologize again

      Very atmospheric!

Great level design, darkness, movie references, and a lot of area to explore. I liked the horrific atmosphere (love horror movies).
I generally liked the whole idea of this campaign.
Challenging but not too much: me and bots played on normal difficulty and finish successfully (well it was a bit more hard at part with jammed elevator because of massive hordes and special infected, we even lost Louis but not for long :)) Well, you could expect really a lot of zombies here: during the entire game session, we killed 7002.
At the second map, my ******* did't notice a hole in the floor, so I wandered through the corridors for a long time in search of a way out and later I was like whaaaat there was a way out the whole time??? xD
In conclusion, I want to say that I enjoyed playing this campaign. Many thanks to the author!

      Very nice campaign.

I love the graphics, the darkness, all the references to the horror movies in the catacombs section including shadows, sounds etc. and the easter eggs :) I play this quite often cause it's fun to play, I just experience some fps drops in some places but it might be my own problem. I don't like the beginning of the 4th chapter after the latest update, but it's a matter of taste, I liked better the way it was before which means I am probably going to roll back to the previous version, also cause the people playing with me don't like it either. Very good job anyway, glad people still creating nice maps for this game.

Long, well-balanced and truly a great adventure.

Buried Deep, along with Dark Wood Extended and Wild Ride form the "triple crown" of custom campaigns for L4D2. My brother and I have enjoy playing buried deep for its long, but enjoyable maps. Difficulty can range from easy to hard depending on player skill level, but personally I would rate it as balanced if playing with a friend and hard if solo (since the bots suck tbh).

TL;DR: Stop reading this review and download it already.

      Movie-esque gameplay guaranteed

i never knew i needed a custom map like this, i feel blessed. also map 4 is hella tough, totally not for single player. Very nice soundtracks, i just slightly hate the haunted noises on map 2 coz i feel like jumpscares are in my corner every time. Kudos to the team that built this, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

The challenge you want so much

I've been playing the game since release and I've gone through a lot of extra maps, but this map is what I've been waiting for so long, I love the atmosphere of secret underground bunkers with endless corridors.
The first time I went through this campaign with a friend at difficulty "high", on my custom server with some additional complications of the gameplay, and this was the challenge what I wanted for so long , it was just cool, it took us 3 hours (in particular, due to a couple of afk moments and zombie multiplier) but it was cool.
Correctly chosen music and correctly chosen moments for it only further improve the atmosphere.

P.S The evacuation is not as epic as the rest of the campaign, but we have what we have.
P.S.S The reference to the maze runner in the form of a terrible global corporation is not the best variant, but this is my personal opinion, I still admire how the author has worked even this reference

I hope you continue to create maps, you are doing great.

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • Thanks for trying it out, and yeah i made this campaign with gameplay experience in mind, but not in the dumb way of just making item spawns a super rare thing to happen, that does not bring real teamwork into the equation which is what i wanted, its hard because real teamwork is requried to survive.

There's at least another big update coming for the campaign during this year which will include an alternative finale (since many got disappointed by the truck being so simple) and a considerable amount of changes to the first two maps.

P.S: Well, since the wicked is literally the antagonist organization of the books and movies, i see them fit due to the flare and the green flu being relatable zombie viruses.

      Unique

      One of the best maps.
It may be difficult for beginners to do, but it is easy compared to other difficult maps.

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • There's nothing easy about it at all. This campaign is a constant fight! I'm no beginner and I find it to be one of the hardest in terms of just fighting your way through. The finale is one of the hardest. The hordes literally don't stop. You must have used Mjolnir to get through, LOL

      bad tanks

i played all maps, tanks are not good, its not playable, sorry it is very bad

      • LOL! Hilarious!!

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • Sorry, but this is funny, this is objectively a good map, which is only the location, I certainly did not like the evacuation, but this is one of the best additional maps I have played and it can rightfully be considered something cult, like, for example, Warcelona

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • Probably you just need better strategies, including how to fight the tanks. Many people here could finish this campaign though it was harder than the normal official campaigns.

Provides decent challenge & great atmosphere

Very well made map in overall.

In 2 of the stages, there are very well placed mini guns that you can actually use. Killed hordes and hordes and zombie with it, loved it.

It also has this heavy atmosphere, sound that gives you goosebumps at times.

      Each level are quite long.

Slightly Better and Fun Challenging Campaign

EDIT: For one, luckily this map is popular on here so ppl join public games of this, which helped, Chapter 1 common nerf was def better, its still a lot but not as much that it would overwhelm you. Chapter 2 was fun, Chapter 3 though, ONLY issue, in the main room, which is the same issue in chapter 1 last event room, there is FARRRR too many corpses on the ground and it hurts FPS and I dont use common infected mods. Chapter 3 made FPS drop to like 10fps DURING the elevator horde with all the other corpses so I would definitely remove some or all of that, its unneeded, or maybe just put it only in front of the guns but not EVERYWHERE, Chapter 4 event was SUPER long, not hard, really but long and u run out of ammo mid to end way. Finale route could've been shorter to get back if you died. Beside that gas cans were evenly placed and not bad to get to, better than other campaigns. So far this went from 1/5 stars to 4/5 stars. Keep up the good work and improving your campaign

This is unfinished because it is UTTER horribly balanced. Description says they test but i doubt that with the amount of insane commons. The 5 star reviews are either blind, naive or dont know what theyre talking about. ONCE this is fully tested ANNND balanced properly(aka COOL IT ON THE COMMON COUNT) then i would try this again. Hopefully the mapper learns and learns how to balance properly.

      • I'd be surprised if you could do this on expert. It's seriously is a team map. Your crew has to be there 100%. All of you LOL. We played it on my modded server and it was insane work and fun :) Peace

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • it says in the description that the campaign is balanced for normal (still doable on advanced though). giving 1 star just because of that is really uncalled for. sounds like salt to me

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • @youtae, how about get informed before judging others, OR how about dont judge others at all and dont make useless comments. You say i want easy , yet i frequently play on expert AND expert realism , that doesnt seem someone who wants "easy" maybe this map is MEANT for easy but not everyone plays on easy and it should be balanced for every difficulty not just "easy"

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • It's true that this map is a bit hardcore. however, it's still an appropriate difficulty level..
looking through your comment logs, i could see you are a noob who only wants an easy map.
you are the problem, not the map.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • My correction on the v1.5, the types of grenades spawned are randomized, but at least you can get like 1-2 vomitjars if you're unlucky, & 3-6 if you're lucky enough. But there are also other throwable items along the way to the post (like propane tanks & gascans). You can also gather those for the preparation for the gate on map 1. That's usually one of my strategies when a map lacks molotov to burn a tank or pipe bomb/ vomitjar to distract & kill many zombies at once. The play sure would take longer if gathering such items by juggling from the beginning of the map, but it's quite helpful during holdout events.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • I just tested the v1.5, & somehow it's still playable. Though the door for backtracking is closed now, but the narrow corridor is still available as an alternative place to defend. When I tested, there are at least 2-4 vomitjars before reaching the post near the gate. So, it's like 4-6 vomitjars in total if all survivors carry them + 2 inside the post. I usually carried one different bomb so I could juggle it with the vomitjars.
        .
Btw, maybe you could try to defend at the corridor. It's a one-way place, so you're only attacked from one direction. But charger is scarier at that place.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • The tactic is to use the miniguns, it always been about the two miniguns on the top. Two survivors at miniguns, two covering from SI and protecting from the CI that manages to pass through the rain of bullets. Melee helps alot in there as well for cutting the climbing commons. Also don't burst all the flammables and use all throwables, those helps if used sequentially. Lastly, do no rush to the saferoom while the gate is opening, Specials won't allow you to go through the horde anymore, instead wait for the horde to finish, the event is not a gauntlet. After the gate finishes opening the director will be only spawning the pending commons of and return to normal pacing.

Also, i take criticism just fine, but seems that only because you're not managing to beat the first chapter with what you know, you feel personally attacked by the difficulty of the event.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • Well, now that the path to backtrack is closed on this v1.5, I guess my tactic I mentioned before becomes useless for this version. Maybe I need to try this new version to figure out new tactics, as I usually used that backtracking tactic on previous versions.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • This campaign is awesome. You might be crazy lol. Try to practice more, you'll get better

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • @kurochama Also "*Made the door that access the Reinforced Gate Hall unbreakable and forcibly close when starting the event, it can be opened again and broken after the event ends" from update notes today, apparently now u cant even backtrack, which did seem smart why we both tried it, urs being more successful, but now if door closes, and ur stuck there with massive common count horde?? that is even more unbalanced, this mapper does NOT take into account criticism to fix balance issues

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • "The 5 star reviews are either blind, naive or dont know what theyre talking about"
or you really bad at playing L4D2...

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • @kurochama What level of difficulty do you play?

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • What...? :o . Well, could you explain your problems in more details? The zombies are more than usual during the events, & I think some people mentioned that too even before I wrote my review. That's also why I said about good strategies required on the main events. There are map 1, 3 & 4 that have main events requiring some good tactics. Even if there are mounted guns, players don't have to defend there. Even I, with my habits of juggling weapons/ items, chose different places to defend based on what I though were the most beneficial. Probably you took wrong places to camp, or wrong tactics, so the zombies got you? Well, try again then, but remember to look for possible good places to camp first before starting the main events. Also look for possible zombie spawn locations, because in this campaign, zombies spawn from normal places, not suddenly in front of survivor's face, so as long as you figure out where they possibly spawn during events, you can find better spots to camp.

Brutal unforgiving challenging campaign with an increased population count which I'm not sure if I'm a huge fan of, but some people like their challenges so whatever. In this campaign you'll be facing long and lots of panic events, seemingly unending routes to follow, scarce supplies distribution and more tanks than normal! The map design is on point for the most part, can't complain too much about it, and I encountered no bugs. Crazy campaign, fun with friends no doubt.

Very challenging and long campaign, worth playing with friends.^^

This is a highly difficult but very fun map.^^ Chapters 1 to 4 all need to defend in one position for a while, which is very satisfying to play. The finale is to fuel the truck and then escape the garage.^^ I played this map with two friends, it took a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes to finish this campaign, and all of us killed more than 1000 zombies.XD Overall whole campaign and music design are quite excellent.^^ Nice work!^^

A cool campaign that can't be missed

I've played several times since the first release here, & I'm never bored at all. The difficulty of this campaign is well-balanced. Every map has a fun main event that is challenging but still doable as it only requires some good strategies & places to defend. The supplies are enough & bot navigation is fine. The hints on this latest version get better as now there's a hint on the jammed elevator on map 3 too. Somehow, I encountered crashes twice during main events on map 1 & map 3. The game froze when I was shooting zombies. But those are probably random crash problems, because when I repeated those map again, the crashes didn't happen. I don't know if it's related to the tons of corpses on map 3 or not, but somehow it's lagging a little when I walked pass the corpses (that's why I defended somewhere else during event).
      .
Map 1 has a fun main event when defending in a post during waiting for the gate to open. There are some good places to camp, & some usable tools to explode & burn zombies during the holdout event. The custom background music during event makes it more enjoyable.
      .
Map 2 has the maze tunnel event. I love it when there's a transition to the dark mode where the vision is very limited in the maze during waiting for the elevator. The special infected could be tricky during that time & ambush suddenly, like how charger suddenly charges at the visible range of survivor's vision.
      .
Map 3 also has a main event about operating an elevator, but there are some objectives to do first. There are some good places to camp including the post near the tons of corpses. As now there's a hint on the jammed elevator, survivors don't need to do a leap of faith during climbing anymore. I still remember that in the old version, I felt doubtful either to wait on the elevator or jump & climb up as there had been electricity warning before while the elevator didn't move even after the panic event stopped. So I decided to take a leap of faith & thankfully that worked.
      .
Map 4 has an easter egg room that I love the music, though the threat is really high. I wonder what the title of arabian-like music is. I usually prepare a molotov & then ran really far far away, because like 3 tanks were chasing us after I opened that room, but I wanted to enjoy the music so I opened the room anyway :D . The main challenging event is during defending near the big gates opening slowly. The area is very open, & zombies come from almost all directions. It requires some good tactics, at least until one gate is opened.
      .
Then, the finale is a scavenge finale at a wide area. It's also an open area where zombies come from all directions, so it's a kind of challenging finale. A tank usually comes when survivors finish juggling the gascans from the house to the front of warehouse where the rescue vehicle is located. Melee weapons are needed here to quickly throw gascans & kill zombies that run closer fast.
      .
In short, it's a great campaign that can't be missed. The adventure sensations on every map can be felt so it's kind of satisfying playing this campaign to the end. It's playable with bots or with other players. I'll keep this to play with friends later. Btw, for the author, could you tell me the title of the background music during the easter egg tank ambush on map 4? Looks like I start to like that one.

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • @AmazingNep02:
What? Just how come you couldn't finish it? As far as I remember, map 1 still gives survivors a chance to run back to find safer places to camp. They don't have to defend at that post. There's also a trick about juggling weapons & grenades. During my tests, I chose to run back, because that post was like a hell as special infected also came from the roof. There were some narrow places that could focus zombies at one or two spots only, & I just kept shooting & throwing my juggled grenades there until the panic event ended (it can end if you wait a little longer), & the vomitjar as the final touch.
        .
THe other maps are also similar like that. That's why I said that some events required some good strategies. So, try again, & make sure that you find some nice spots to camp & deploy strategies, because if you take wrong strategies or places to camp, the zombies will more likely come to almost every direction.

This comment was posted before the latest release.

      • how can u say the difficulty was well balanced?? we couldnt even finish chapter 1 b/c the final event has FAR too many commons(than any normal horde event can spawn) and at times u cant even see anything on screen that they outnumber u all. Its horribly balanced and needs a lot of work. I wish it was balanced, wanted to see ch 2-5

        @jerwinpogi:
I only know one on map 4. It's around the corner near the woods & blocked tunnel, before the objective "burn to open the path". There's a door at the corner.
