The first 3 chapters are kind of boring, but the last 2 chapters elevated campaign A LOT, the escape vehicle was very unique, I liked that. But unfortunately, it's visually dull as hell. Still, really good campaign that plays well.
This is the campaign not so long but design is great.^^ Chapter 1 and 2 is prison break, chapter 3 and 4 is from the dock to the ship.^^ Finale is my favorite part, which need to defend on the lighthouse until the hot air balloon arrive, it's little challenging but very fun.^^ Nice campaign!^^
A classic. Some of the level design, particularly the later maps is astonishing and memorable, even now. Such a unique rescue in the finale too. I kind of wish the L4D2 version kept the night time atmosphere though - I don't feel like the campaign has quite the same impact or feel set in the daytime.
Shows it's age a bit: Not as flashy or as well polished as newer maps. I remember playing an earlier version of the original in L4D1 years ago - one of the first full campaigns released.
Absolutely recommended, even being a decade old now, it's still quite good.
Well, it's no wonder that this campaign reaches a million views. There's no bot navigation error, the guide arrows & instructions are clear. I could enjoy playing from the beginning to the finale. It's been awhile since last time I played a daylight campaign. Some maps also have alternative routes.
It's only the map inside the ship that made me dizzy. The view was like when I had a headache, as the angle of the path wasn't straight. & the finale is kind of tricky. My guess was totally wrong when I thought the rescue team came from a ship. & I still had no idea about the connection between turning on the generator & the rescue transport...
In overalls, it's enjoyable to play with friends.
It took me almost an hour to finish the campaing, the length is very long. I can imagine how it would work out in Expert.
Certain areas lack details, the lighting and the ambient still awesome nonetheless, hordes are well placed, custom sounds are rad and the finale is kinda tricky -- the risk of getting charge'd or killed by the tank is quite high unless you stay in lower areas.
The environments are unique, like the interior of the ships.
The design of the map wasn't just randomly places objects etc.It wasn't too tedious to navigate though some areas were confusing to work out where to go next.
Pretty challenging even on normal but the balance of supplies was fine for me to complete solo with bots.
A few areas seem to have invisible barriers which prevented me from shooting the infected.,it was like there was an invisible fence between them & the survivors.
The finale was pretty simple to just camp up on the roof & shoot everything in sight but I like how the rescue was a hot air balloon, that was a nice touch.
Not much I am willing to say about this, mainly because I'd rather people experience it for themselves.
What I'll say for now is if you've been holding out on downloading a campaign now's a good time!
This campaign takes me back to the good old days of the first Left 4 Dead when campaigns were long but also great.
You don't see a lot of that done well together any more, so don't miss out on this campaign!
In Map 4 (The Ship) it can get really confusing with how the ship is tilted, and there's a weird effect where the zombies keep disappearing through the floors, especially when you kill them. The finale is also weird; it didn't tell us exactly what setting off the generator would do--I assumed since we were at a lighthouse, it was gonna make the light turn on and draw a ship to rescue us, but a hot air balloon showed up instead. And it didn't even alert us when the hot air balloon showed up (which took forever incidentally). Overall though it was ok.
