A functional fun campaign

Well-built and decorated, with low atmospheric lighting, and pleasant balance of supplies. The abundance of explosive barrels can get annoying with those trigger-happy bots, who nevertheless refuse to shoot completely at the parking with alarmed cars. There are some spots where bots can get stuck and sometimes they ignore supplies in plain sight (tables or ambulances), and I reckon there'd be places where they can't revive you. The comic sound effects are a fun idea, but sometimes they're cheesy (like "PUMP! PUMP!") to the point one would expect "PROPERTY DAMAGE!!" pop up at some point. Regardless, the campaign is long, if a bit repetitive, easy enough, and with a comic book worthy finale twist.

Brilliant and beautiful with a tough finale

Needs no introduction, hands down one of the most unique and beautiful campaigns. Very cool church with other survivors (and not those L4D1 survivors!), a gnome-style easter egg, and even custom zombies! Even though the Dropbox links are dead, the campaign really shows the team's hard work and dedication. The finale is random-generated which leads to bot navigation issues: they went the long way around to kill the Hunter eating me, and after that, instead of picking me up, they went around AGAIN and naturally the game was over. But the most brutal part is a way up to the helicopter, where Tanks run towards you and there isn't much space to evade them. There's that one corpse in the swimming pool shower, which looks more like something out of Resident Evil than Left 4 Dead, and it's just nasty in general.

More grenades than zombies. In China.

A very promisingly starting campaign with cool visuals, custom assets, and even a mobile saferoom. The supply balance is thrown out the window by the abundance of throwables, and in many instances they can be picked up five times. The campaign is only three maps long and the maps themselves are rather short. While the first map looks exactly like what you would expect China to look like to tourists, the next maps look more generic, showing that China is not made of just fancy traditional buildings and red lanterns. The short Survivor dialogues are lovely, and the custom doors, manhole covers, and saferoom door textures are a nice touch as well. There's a moment where a broken pipe can fall on an unlucky Survivior's head, and some moments also make you think of the "Chinese things break easily" jokes. Also, a very odd color correction kicks in when you climb out of the sewer (seen on one of the screenshots).

An average campaign, where the finale is easier than the previous map.

First we have a Bus Stop Maze of Buses, then a "museum" with some funny moments, then THAT ONE MAP, and then a finale in some weird random cave structure. In the museum, the melee weapons are bugged, and can crash the game when picked up. The third map offers the most teeth-grinding challenge of the campaign: you're basically in an arena with little to no cover, infected are attacking from all sides, and the elevator takes MILLENIA to arrive. And when it does, and your teammate(s) is (are) downed outside, you CANNOT just leave them behind, you MUST pick them up or kill them outright. The bots are particularly pathetic: when they're attacked from every side, they just stand there, losing hitpoints. And then you find youself in an odd cave (is THAT the Source of Infection?) and after the usual waves, a long run to the military chopper.

Decent, but weirdly lit

A short nice campaign with Survivor dialogues, decent supplies, and a fancy route around overall. My biggest complaint is the lack of natural light. The campaign takes place under the sun, but all lighting ever seems to only come from electricity, and some fires. The sunlight feels like it's made of searchlights, and this otherwise sunny campaign has way too many pitch black areas.

We'll cut it some slack for its age

Build, lighting, flow, balance is okay. It even seems to be easier in the first maps, culminating into the somewhat teeth-grinding finale. Low visibility, scattered supplies, two Tanks, pathetic bots (not exclusive to this campaign, though), and a military loop plays on forever (in addition, the escape vehicle is as far from "military" as possible). Some maps feel very short, areas seem to be repetitive (mainly stairs), panic events are alright, bots tend to fall to their deaths near those claustrophobic fire staircases. In the end, it's so "okay" it's average.

Lots of cool gameplay events, and excellent design

This campaign has extremely nice flow, fine supply balance, and outstanding visuals (the door-mattress-bath part is a small, miss-able, but such an amazing detail). The cola pickup was a bit too blatantly placed, but other than that every other supply placement makes sense. The voice acting is good, the custom music is great, the events are super original, from toxic tunnels to point defense. The biggest letdown can be the finale rush, mostly due to the bots' weird tactical decisions to run back to the saferoom and instantly die (the campaign really lives up to its title in the finale). There are some bombs, shots, and handy CEDA Infected with bile jars to help you on the run. Also, infected tend to spawn out of the ether in plain sight on the second map.

Good, but too dam challenging campaign

The design is excellent, I really like the non-linear approach and revisiting the previously seen areas. This may confuse beginners, and especially if they quit playing halfway through the campaign and try to remember which map was it later. The campaign has no shortage of panic events, they are well supplied, and some have HMGs to help you out, but there's one huge difficulty spike. Tank spam. There actually so many Tanks - and sometimes they come in pairs - that you might start treating them like the normal Special Infected, they're that common. In other words, the number of Tanks IS TOO DAM HIGH. Jokes aside, it is both a fun and challenging campaign, and it looks good.

Kinda confusing, but functional

Interesting idea, pretty nice realization. Some maps are a bit confusing, and a certain moment is fatal with bots who can't hold their fire. Even worse, these barrels can be shot through the wall when you're fighting off Infected, firing in all directions. One wrong shot and half the map blows up, even through the walls you get severely damaged. The same gauntlet also lacks rescue closets before it. Luckily, the finale is almost a breather level after the previous marathon.

A bit eh, but nostalgic anyway

Solid, functional, and brings back memories. Adequately balanced, if a bit lacking in health department. Some maps are played differently, a huge portion of the original seems to be completely missing. The gauntlet on the third map places you in a ravine, where Infected pour from everywhere; it is a very harsh challenge if you play solo due to bots being pathetic when they're attacked from all sides.

Excellent port of Episode One maps

Regardless of whether you played Half-Life 2: Episode One or not, this is a great and solid campaign. Well balanced, with panic events and plenty of supplies, excellent gameplay at every map and on all difficulties. The choice of music differs from the actual tracks used in the original HL2EP1 maps, but it works and brings back memories anyway.

An excellent campaign

Beautifully built, well-balanced, and with great events and interesting locations. Although some of them are rather brutal, they are doable, and only cause positive emotions in general. The balance is a bit thrown off on the second map, as you can fight an optional Tank, a fixed one on the rooftops, and there can still appear an extra Tank - once we even had to fight two Tanks at once, on Expert, no less.

Beautiful, but short, but long, but...

While it at first seems it is a short three-map campaign, in reality it would take much longer to complete due to a number of factors. The first map requires you to find four randomly placed parachutes (some of which may be somewhat well hidden). The second map has some randomly blocked paths, somewhat increasing replayability and dragging you for more Great Wall runs. And that Gauntlet, oh my. The finale has a frictionless ice you need to melt, all the while being attacked by hordes and Tanks. And gods save you if you take too long. The atmosphere of the cold, deserted Great Wall is great, however, even though I generally like more lit maps.

A well-made but short campaign

Beatifully built, adequately balanced campaign and with randomness of some events. Unfortunately, it is only three maps long, and the randomization of the finale can prove fatal and a complete opposite of fun. Having to backtrack in order to override the escape door while attacked by a horde and a Tank was a huge "nope".

Dark, plain, empty

Panic events feel very streamlined and uninspired. The ending gauntlet is somewhat nice, however, maybe it's because there's at least some action finally going on, instead of walking through repetitive spacious areas. Also, there is no indication on that you have to "use" the crates to pass the truck in the first map.

Long, challenging, and fun

Its build quality is average and due to the lighting it appears to be repetitive (you even revisit one area between maps). It, however, has more supplies and enemies than you could have wished for. Also, what can possibly be cooler than fueling up an Abrams tank?

Dark, dark, dark, and bland

This has to be the weakest campaign I played in a while. It is very dark at all times, up to the point it is teeth-grindingly and eye-hurtingly annoying. The maps have almost nothing original to offer (they may even be well-built but you can't tell that in the eternal darkness) and flood the gameplay with hordes instead. The first Tank in the finale had an aneurism, but he had his revenge when two of them appeared later.

Average and functional

A very original first map, with some zombies hilariously spawning on top of that ball of rock. The build quality is okay, the balance is alright, plus custom voice acting and plenty of Survivor dialogues. The only cons are its shortness, and the overly long final run.

It's a good one, but with a number of annoying events

This build quality is outstanding, and the maps have a nice flow, and good balance of supplies. Some panic events, however, seem to come out of nowhere, and the first aid trap was an example of "trial and error" gameplay as nothing whatsoever foreshadowed it. The finale is also kinda "meh"; it's a large rainy map with explosive barrels and machine guns, but none appear near the bunker.

One of the greatest

Lenghty, challenging, and beautifully built. Custom Survivor dialogues and cool events, some of which are optional. Interesting take on supplies, especially Tier 2 weapons early in the campaign, not to mention the limited ammo boxes. Plenty of space to explore, but never to get lost.

Dark and scary in a funny way

Maps are very dark, but this is vital for the campaign's atmosphere. That one campaign (alongside Night Terror) you'll want to replay during the Halloween hype. Lots of ghosts and other fun stuff with rarely any teeth-grinding troubles.

Its fun and originality nullifies its cons

The campaign may be unjustly challenging at times, but it's full of references and fun events. Supplies are OK, but bots have trouble reaching for them sometimes. With the sound cache fix, this undoubtedly is one of the most fun campaigns, and good thing there's also a version with fixed models out there.

One of the most beautiful campaigns

Extremely well-built and balanced, with plenty of space to explore, lots of cool events, Survivor dialogs, and a very cool escape vehicle. No wonder this was once featured, and there is no reason to miss this one.

Creative and beautiful

The campaign doesn't even warm up - it starts with a cool rush event and plenty of secrets. Said events never let down the cool factor, and the supplies are well balanced.

A breath of fresh European air

Modestly built, but the original theme and great atmosphere more than make up for it. Supplies are generous, and the places you get to explore are very cool. The balance is just right.

Hands down one of the best there is

Excellently built, atmospheric, and with kilotons of custom content. Randomized events, plenty of secrets, and good voice acting. I haven't watched it, but my friend said it's pretty much "by the movie". There's no reason to skip this one.

Tons of custom stuff and high replayabilty

So many custom assets from models to voices, even Tank skins. The panic events and some paths are randomized. Good use of Survivor dialogs, which are also a little randomized, lots of custom events (though some are a bit unintuitive). The maps are annoyingly dark most of the time, though they do have the classic Left 4 Dead flow. Playing this with the notoriously bad imbecile bots is not recommended, unless you're lucky enough to always have a bile bomb for the panic events. Also, I couldn't access the secret room in the church, even though I carried a "gnome" the whole campaign before that, but maybe I'm just wrong.

Dark, atmospheric, and not out of place

A well-built campaign with custom melee weapons (even if they might still be too TF2 for somebody) and sweet little survivor conversations. Not particularly "wow", but still fun with a unique event or two, good balance, and nice flow.

One of those legends

Well built and adequately balanced, with possibly the exception of constant mini-hordes and periodically double Special spam. The finale is tough, but the supplies are plentiful. Those small Survivor conversation also add up to the atmosphere.

A unique campaign, that's for sure

It's large, it's greatly built, it has lots of events and custom content. Except maybe for the never-ending underground section and the random barking dog event the whole campaign plays well enough. It's just too awesome to really complain, with a great finale as well.

Simple architecture, lots of space to explore

The maps are built in a rather simplistic manner, but for the campaign's large open maps it's only for the better. Plenty of easter eggs, some nice events, good balance. And it's still getting updates.

A great, if a bit crazy, sequel

The start is a bit unintuitive, and somebody may die in the explosion, but after that it's pure gold. There weren't any balance issues with the supplies, or too hard events. The locations keep the uniqueness of the prequel and expand it. The truck's horn is a best sound ever since it notifies that you've finally reached the campaign's "safe house". While the encounter with the L4D2 crew is pretty fun on it's own, the ending, well... It felt so out of place, even considering the general wackiness of the preceeding levels.

It's outside America, and it is good

Long, original, with variety of unique locations, and good balance. Haven't had any troubles with the finale, but perhaps I just haven't played too much. This campaign will make you want to grab some Glocks and an AUG and enjoy playing from start to finish.

No negative points, really

Well built, well-lit, with great balance of supplies. The finale may get a little fatigued closer to the end, good thing the melee weaponry is so OP in this game. I would like to point out some issues, but so far I have not found any.

Impenetrable hordes in the thick snow, woo

The full version replaces all Infected skins with Minecraft-ish ones, with weird hitboxes. To make this more fun, half of the population, including hordes, are actually Riot Officers. You WILL run out of ammunition. Some maps are rather unintuitive, most of them are cramped, claustrophobic corridors or caves. The supplies are plentiful, but the unique events are either straightforward or take too long. The no-mods version has a lot of missing textures, although it's not gamebreaking and almost fitting the setting. I liked the effects, the idea, the build quality of some maps, after all this is an homage to one of the most popular and unique videogames ever. There's just too little space and too many backtracking to my taste.

Hope you like to run away from randomly started fires

This is a decent attempt at recovering and finishing a piece of Left 4 Dead history, but its balance of supplies ranges from "shower of guns" to "everyone is black and white". What is doesn't lack, however, are panic events (car alarms) and explosive barrels and canisters littered around the maps to trigger said events by careless shooting. Right after that you may run into crows, have fun. The fires from the numerous barrels and gas cans never stop to burn your heels, and if that wasn't enough, there's a completely random bombed forest which apparently houses several gateway straight to the Burning Hells, which seem to have no obvious pattern. I will keep this campaign in my watchlist until the next update before I recommend this to my picky friends.

Actually longer than you think

It's a long-ass campaign with several secret areas which contain bonus stuff, and plenty of easter eggs and references. It also features a sort of collectibles - the G-Man encounters, which were never more disturbing before. The name, however, seems to lose its point right after the first map, as the campaign is a set of vaguely connected locations, all of which are different from the other. The difficulty is alright, the supplies are frequent, except the timed escape can be hardcore if you don't just dash to the elevator, which can not be started if any of your teammates dawdles.

Functional, but sorta difficult

There's no time for exploration, so you're supposed to be familiar with the map from TF2. The navigation map is badly connected in certain places, so the bots are dumber than usual in this one. Still, the campaign does what it was designed for.

It works, and it's kinda fun

Not much to see if you're not a TF2 player, but still it provides a gameplay change at every turn. Short and efficient.

A good remake

A solid proof that any map can be remade in a different style. It's a little dark to my liking, and predominantly brown, plus it lacks those crates, but it's alright considering the setting, and does not hurt the map's connectivity. Great reimagination of the elevator and other parts.

Interesting reversal of Half-Life 1

While the maps aren't total remakes (as is the campaign name), the areas in them bring nostalgie at every corner turn. Can't say anything negative or positive about longevity and supplies, which only means it's done quite right. The finale, however, seemed odd - it looked like the Xen borderworld was actually a huge dump of Earth's trash, and there was nothing even remotely beautiful in there. The other version, with the portals, felt confusing in addition to all above, I also couldn't finish it for reasons I can't remember. I only didn't like the elevator sequence, it is way too out of place even for Black Mesa facility.

One-time playthrough only if you're a UT99 fan

While the very fact of the complete remake of the Unreal Tournament maps in the Source engine is astounding, the gameplay does not live up to the hype. The longevity of some maps is killing the fun, the way they are connected with each other is often too weird, and the supplies are infrequent, sometimes lacking an essential weapon type. The bots often ignore those infrequent supplies; a good example is near the beginning of Coret, when even pushing the bots to the guns and medkits is hopeless. The "ten propane cans" moment is unique, but the old trusted "burn the barricade" would have worked just as well, without the fear of losing cans. Also, a random Jimmy Gibbs horde, good luck defeating him if you don't know his weaknesses and/or you haven't found the weapons which kill him easily. The Lava Giant is so irrecognizable, so confusing, and SO LONG. Plus, there's an extra map which isn't a part of the original game or any official bonus packs. At any rate, this campaign is ways better than the space one - those series of gas can runs with non-stop Tanks don't even compare.

Unique, but kinda dull

The campaign has an original theme, great visuals, plenty of custom assets, and moody atmosphere. It also has its share of special events, different routes, and gameplay mechanics. The maps, however, seem somewhat repetitive, especially when the game forces you to salvage car batteries in a fixed order, then backpedal half the map, all the while being attacked by micro-hordes - these are as annoying as a weak rain compared to something you'd want to use an umbrella in. The sound of the good ol' Soviet weather broadcast with "Manchester et Liverpool" brings joy to any post-Soviet country player, especially hearing the soothing voice announcing the temperature in Ukraine, reminding of the times when Russia and Ukraine were sister states. Some graffitis are misspelled, but usually not to the point of pure ridiculousness. The health and ammo supplies are less generous than I'm used to, and considering the lasting-ness of the campaign, this does not help its replayablility. I finished the campaign solo without cheating on Normal.

Beautiful and mysterious

Excellent visuals, nice flow, balanced item distribution, and a mystery factor. Crashed once in an open area of the penultimate level, but otherwise runs smoothly, and the bots seem to navigate well. Can't wait for the sequel in the Combine base on Europa moon or whatever was actually supposed to follow.

Eye candy, but weirdly balanced

It is a beautiful and creative campaign, with an excellent contrast of extreme temperatures. Played much like the Hard Rain, in "there and back again" style, with later half being with a twist with burning in place of flooding. But unlike Hard Rain, the item placement isn't saved between map changes, and new weapons/medkits appear when there weren't any before. Speaking of which, some saferooms start with no health packs, the weapons can only be picked up once (or twice), and the gun you drop sometimes dissapears (presumably moves back to its spawn half the map away, like on The Sacrifice). But at least this adds to the campaign's difficulty factor, since it is pretty easy to beat. There is little explanation what happens halfway through the campaign, so if you aren't paying attention you may miss completely why the survivors even bothered descending into the building. The are custom sounds and ambient pieces, and some survivor conversations, like usual Ellis' stories and questioning using the elevator when it's burning hell out there. It's a good-looking and well-playing campaign, if a little linear-maze-like, with unusual item distribution. I even ran out of ammution for the sniper rifle once, which shows.

Cons:

"Ghost ship". Corpses instanly disappear on the 4th map, but I guess it is due to unusual tilt of the majority of map

Conclusion:

Really needs no introduction - one of the very best custom campaigns for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. No one will regret downloading this masterpiece.

Pros:

- Classic campaign with some nice changes

Cons:

- Some twists are really confusing: 3rd map is very dark, rainy and so on
- Almost NONE health packs: I've got B/W screen in the middle of 4th map
- Crescendo event in the 4th map: didn't make it (everyone was BW at this moment due to lack of medkits)
- Lack of weapons: LACK. OF. WEAPONS.

Conclusion:

Well, it's a Death Toll with lots of twists and changes. It is now twice as long and as a result it can become quite boring. And a year after its last update, you are most likely not going to fix anything.

Some melees can be picked up multiple times (second map on the wooden bridge)
Boat event is a little glitchy

Awesome campaign, but some bugs should be fixed to get 100% awesomeness
