Oh... my... hive... this campaign is really amazing! 👍️

Impressive campaign, right from the start. It's like a playable version of the movie Resident Evil from 2002. You get to see much more of the HIVE than you've seen in the movie. And this time, you are there, inside it, fighting for your life, not just looking at others trying to survive. It's so well made! Great graphics: beautiful, cool and horrifying at the same time. Everything is created with talent into one of the best campaigns I've ever seen. How could they make such complex maps, but maintain a high frame rate? I've played campaigns with low FPS and much worse graphics. So, the game IS capable of amazing graphics with a high FPS. It just needs smart and talented people to create maps. I think I know why I enjoy every second of this. It's full of new stuff, that you haven't seen before. Not all textures and objects are new, but they are arranged in new ways. And there are many new things too. So, there is nothing boring, nothing you've already seen many times in campaigns. It's like an entirely new game, MUCH better than the original L4D2 campaigns. No exaggeration. I can't run through this, **** the zombies, I want to look around everywhere, as much as I want. I like the attention to every possible detail, for example making sure all survivor bots get in elevators immediately with the players. In other campaigns, bots never get in, or just some get in, sometimes you can push them in, sometimes you can't even do that. The smaller an elevator, the bigger the problem with bots. Not in this campaign, though. After I got in a small elevator, all bots got in immediately. So, the game IS capable of doing things right. It just needs smart and talented people to create maps. Yes, you read this before, I repeated it because it's important. Players often blame L4D2 for stupid bot behavior, bugs, crashes, being boring. But it's not the game's fault. It's the fault of map creators. This campaign proves without a doubt that the game IS capable of amazing graphics at high FPS, great gameplay, immersion, scripted scenes, being fresh and not boring and never crashing. It just needs smart and talented people to create maps. Yes, repeating is intentional. It's true that the game has its imperfections, but a quality campaign, such as this one, knows how to handle L4D2, so it never gets into any trouble. The game is like a car and the campaign like a driver. An expert driver knows how to customize and control the car, so it does its job perfectly and look amazing while doing so. Ok, I should add the fact that there were some problems here and there with bots. But the score would be somewhere over 9.6, so I'll give it a 10. I played it like (I guess) a baby discovers the world, with my eyes wide open, looking at everything. 😁 I even found myself some times with my mouth open. 😄 Why? I have played lots and lots of fan made campaigns for L4D*, how can I still be surprised? Is this campaign so good? Well... yes, why else would I be so impressed? I haven't said anything about the sound yet. I guess you already know what I'm going to say. I love the music from RE2002! And it's scripted to play according to what's happening. It fits the action at every moment. I've seen the movie a number of times, but I've never imagined that some day I would be inside it, trying to survive in there. Why aren't the labs full of water, up to the top? I wanted to walk around hallways, look through the glass walls and see zombies floating in the water filled labs. Remember "smart and talented people"? They did another good thing by limiting the accessible areas, so the players don't run in circles and get lost in 3D mazes. For example, they thought to lock doors behind the survivors, so they could only go forward, not wasting time in other places. Maybe this doesn't feel like something important to some people (the weird ones), but it is extremely important. It keeps games from being annoying, frustrating, wasting people's lives instead of making them better. If I have 3 hours of free time, I'd like to have fun for 3 hours, not just for one hour, and wasting 2 hours being lost in a maze. There are different paths you can take through maps. I thought it was just kidding at the beginning of each map when it said it was choosing a path. But playing the campaign several times in a row, I noticed we had to play in different ways. I could swear there was a door at some point for example, but there wasn't when I replayed the campaign. And there it was again when I played again. So I wasn't crazy! 😊 The maps really change, no kidding, they are not exactly the same every time you play them. Impressive campaign, from the fist seconds to the last seconds, all the way. Congratulations to the people creating / testing it and please make more!

Good in overalls, with only few problems

This campaign is actually good. This one can't be missed when playing RE campaigns. Just like other RE series, this one also has some objectives to do. Supplies are enough & hints are also well provided. Unlike other RE series, there's no puzzle here, but there's a special trap that reminds me of the RE movie. Bots can't survive there, because they're too lazy to follow players to the safe area. There are also timed events too that players have to escape as fast as possible.

The only problem here is bot navigation. Bots can't follow players at certain areas, for example, near maintenance room in map 1, during collecting ward room in map 1. Special infected are also bugged at many areas except during escape event. For example, in map 1, after entering hospital during objectives to find keys & turn on generator, special infected are bugged so players only face common infected. In other areas, special infected are stuck as they often spawn behind the doors, so, unless players open the doors, special infected can't do anything.

In short, this campaign is good to play with bots or other players. But if it's played with bots, prepare a defib at laser trap area, as all bots will die & you'll be left alone. This campaign is a good for a starting campaign when you want to play all RE series, as this one will introduce the missions of finding items that can be found in other RE campaigns.

      My favorite Resident Evil campaign.^^

This is a really fun and slightly challenging Resident Evil campaign, not only very detailed and well-designed, but also restores some of the original story and music.^^ The most challenging part is the last part of chapter 2, after failing to open the door, it will attract the zombie hordes and randomly spawn 0 to 2 tanks. If there was 0 tanks, the players are lucky, but if there was 2 tanks it will be more difficult, keeping some molotovs will help a lot.XD And the last part of finale, survivors must get into the basement to hide from the blast. I think this part is also challenging because players may not be able to find the direction arrow leading to the basement in the first place. But if there has friends to play together, finding the way will be a lot easier.XD Overall I really like this campaign and really enjoy it.^^ Nice work!^^

      good quality, but ...

I haven't finished this map. The quality looks good, but I quit due to a bot's navi problem. I'm sorry.

      great map

Very well done map! Despite all the possible paths the way the map is laid out its still easy to find your way around. Bots are slow but they can get to you in most situations.

      Amazing campaign

I played it and I could say that I liked it too much, both in the musical background, the texture, the appearance of the zombies of the left 4 dead 1 and that you use the survivors in that campaign, it could be said that I had a little inconvenience when playing , but the benefits of this campaign are greater, so in my case I hope a campaign that may be possible to pass but in the form of a challenge, that is to experience the pressure, and the emotion that everything goes well, you made a great job and thank you very much, keep it up !!! :)

      Awesome!!!

An awesome job. It has so much of its creator that I even feel that he himself is by my side helping me and guiding me to know how to move forward. Not only that, but it is not always the same road. In addition, it has an impressive atmosphere, as if it were inside the movie. So far, it is the best mod that exists in L4D2. However, it could improve. 1- I could never play the third level. Because the game comes out and sends me to the desk. 2- it is very short and I know I ask too much, because the creator nobody pays to update it. 3- It would be great if it had one more level of "Run and escape" type. 4- It would also improve if I let myself use other skins of my preference. Because every mod is good, but it is better if you put your interpretation of the environment. And 5- No matter the negative. The creator is a genius.

Unique, lots of work went into it, but...

I imagine that this campaign might be for a select audience, because the Resident Evil movie is just not my thing, so the novelty of a campaign based on its location is lost on me. So I will just have to judge on its playability merits, so here it is. A lot of the architecture in the first map is really small and crowded - The streets and general area in front of the hospital seem half the size they should be, similar with the hallways and rooms. You can't really move around smoothly, and there is a claustrophobic feel because of the small scale. While this might be the aesthetic attempt, it doesn't add to the playability factor or the fun for me. I liked the searching of corpses, and they were lit up nicely to find.

The second map also has some construction that made for bland gameplay for me and my friends - long straight narrow hallways tied together, and a big, square, arena like room with obstacles arranged like a grid. Again, they might represent something that is meaningful for the fans of the movie, but I don't think that type of construction makes for interesting gameplay - at least not dynamic enough to want to revisit after the novelty wears off.

The laser trap room was clever, and there seems to be a good amount of custom content. There is something about the lighting, though, that looks flat - like this is running on a game engine that is a couple of generations old. It could be that there are some light fixtures in the construction that don't cast light on their surroundings, or something else, but it looks old. I would imagine that the look could be improved with more dramatic and vibrant lighting.

Like most others, my game crashed on map 3, and by that time, I had seen enough to know that I wasn't up to revisit this campaign again. I really appreciate the amount of work and creativity that went into this campaign, but from a playability level, it really suffers in my opinion from the small scale and claustrophobic nature of the first map, the long, straight maze of halls and grid arena in the second, and the crash in the third. In my opinion, navigating and exploring maps is more interesting with a reasonable scale and paths to traverse, and the fun of L4D2 combat is extinguished in narrow hallways and obstacle grids.

Second, sometimes On Nuclear bomb countdown timer maps, if you incapitaced on aspalt road (with some cars around) bot, just stand around you, not helping. Until you dead or timer off.

      Still this awesome maps.. Thanks

      Fun

      Pros:
            Resident Evil atmosphere
More entertaining than the actual film, which I feel was ruined.
            Music fits the map.
The laser trap was a nice touch, though with bots they always die inside.

Cons: The bots occasionally clip through the train or get stuck in a few areas & I get left behind, usually happened where you need to reboot the Red Queen & have to run the gauntlet through the tunnels.

      GREAT!!!

      PROS
      -Great atmosphere
      -Appropriate music
      -Plenty of supplies
      -There's a sense of urgency/panic which
      makes it exciting
      -I liked the map's story itself :)
-The laser scene is amazing. Although it's a bit short it gave me intensity and luckily I survived the first time :)
        CONS
-Well none for me but it would've been epic if we saw the train go out of the city while avoiding the blast XD

An amazing mixture of RE Film and RE games itself. I couldn't ask for more than this to me it's really great and I really enjoyed it thank you for this great map :)

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • Hi, I'm just curious if you were on an online server and if you were lagging? When on the train you're actually in a box that you cannot get out of until a door opens, however if the server was lagging, the game can glitch out and make the bots think they're outside (when they pop around the screen) and then they die.

Thanks for the heads up :)

      • UPDATE- On my fourth play through on map 4, the bots fell off the train which kills them leaving me alone luckily it was near the safe-room but just want to let you know :)

      some problem

This is a great map I love it so bad .But when I played the 3rd map escape the server tunnel ,the game crash to desktop and told me that"156/-infected:UTIL-SetModel:not precached:models/infe cted/common-police-male01.mdl".I dont have any common infected mod,all of my mod is survivor and weapons.I try to reinstall the game but it still happens. How can I solve it??

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • Hi there!!! I'm having the same issue as you but I found a solution. Just download this mod [Original Common Infected in L4D2!!] ( I saw it in this page and tried it out). Works like magic to me and I hope it does solve your problem too :)

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, FULL OF CUSTOM CONTENT

      PROS:
      - Nice intro
      - Nice addition of the dead l4d2 survivors
      - Map lengths aren't overly long but are the perfect medium
      - Original Resident evil music
      - Resident evil voice overlay
      - Maps are pretty much spot on with the original
      - Choice of turning off the music / elevator teleportation for bots
      - Timed finale, very nice concept and actually challenging! Quite different for a change
      - Sound effects
      - Logical item placement
      - Plenty of supplies
      - Directional arrows make it easy on where to go
      - Map environments are extremely well done.
      - Laser scene

      CONS
      - When climbing over the cars in finale, I found myself getting stuck A LOT which wasted time

This campaign is definitely one to remember. Full of custom content and being amazingly similar to the resident evil movie. Very well polished and didn't encounter any bugs. Played on expert campaign with one other player and although I did find it a bit on the easy side, it was a very rewarding experience and I can see myself replaying this. Good work dev, very rare to find a polished, enjoyable and CUSTOM campaign these days. Top job!

Very well crafted map! A good nostalgia

      Pros:
      - Very detailed interior. Good work! Each section did bring back memories.
      - Very smooth gameplay. No errors occurred.
      - Clear hints provided as well as the navigation.
      - Lots of supplies! Whee!

      Cons:
      - Infected come right away attacking as the map starts. Though I enjoyed the thrill.
      - Distance from one safe house to another is too short. Thus a little too laid back. Stage can be harder, or can make distance longer :)
      - The finale seems to force all survivors reach the rescue point before the bombing (except the dead ones). Else, when time ran out, it is considered failed and the finale restarts even though one of the 4 has actually reached the end point.
      - Tank at the finale was so powerful. I got punched near the cars area and flew 7-8 cars away from that one blow (O_O) Took a while to catch up especially running on low HP.

      very detailed.And I mean very.
      Candy for Resident evil fans.
you're one of the most responsible map maker I've seen.
Geez, the T virus models in the lab and on the train were excellent.
mansion in the last map ※※※
Only small and minus bugs but I'm not gonna pick on that just for the sake of it. It's a 10/10 for sure.
I hope there's a red queen projection, but I know that will be really hard to make.

ps;it's nice to know that you're planning to make more resident evil maps. keep up with the good jobs bro!

This review was posted before the latest release.

      • Hey Veronica, really generous comment, I'm so glad you like the campaign ha ha :)

The T-virus models need to be attributed to ZeqMacaw, DoktorHaus & Spiral, they made a T-virus pipebomb and I requested permission to use it in the campaign, it really gives the final touches.

I would love to do a Red Queen projection but as you said it will be very difficult, however right now I am making a 'definitive edition' update for the entire game, it's going to double the length of the campaign, giving new areas to explore, new things to do, and really providing the most realistic experience of every little feature of the campaign.

I believe I know all the bugs you may query here, all of which I am trying to fix up, but if there are any you think I may not have encountered, please, by all means PM them to me :)

Thank you once again for the superb review, enjoy the rest of the campaign and keep holding back the zombie hordes!
